Christie Craig is one of my all time favorite mainstream romance authors. Head to B&N or Amazon today, for a free download of book 1 of her Divorced series. I read this series before I started GP so there is not a review posted here. When I read it I gave it FIVE STARS on goodreads. What I can tell you is this is a fun, steamy, romantic suspense series about three divorced friends.

The Divorced Series is one that I have in print, because I bought it before I discovered e-readers and I STILL have the print books, I will not part with them. (As I say this I am running to download on Amazon because I am greedy and want both print and e-book.)

Dillon’s Claim is the second book in the Dumen Ranch Series by Callie Croix.

We first meet Dillon in book one, Deacon’s Touch. I really like the timeline for this series. Book two takes place the same time as book one. Both revolve around a bachelorette weekend at the Dumen Ranch. The books tell the stories of what took place with different couples that were there. This is a new take on a series for me and I loved it.

Dillon is the oldest of the Dumen boys who are running the ranch. He is former Air Force Special Ops and is used to being in control of every aspect of his life, especially in the bedroom.

Charissa and Dillon were friends who let the friendship line dissolve and shared some steamy kisses a year ago. She knew what kind of a lover he was and knew she couldn’t get involved with a dominant man again. She had a horrible experience in the past and even though her body knows what it wants in the bedroom her mind won’t let her except it. She leaves her fantasies and desires behind and skips town without as much as a goodbye.

She knows heading into the weekend at the ranch she is going to have to face Dillon again.

Dillon is such a caring, sensitive, gentle guy. I loved their story. I loved that Dillon not only showed her but helped her understand that a BDSM relationship is not one sided but an exchange of power. I loved the way he lets her know that what she craves in the bedroom is normal, and nothing to be ashamed of. This book is filled with passion and steamy sex, but it also tells a beautiful story of two people who have to overcome a lot
of obstacles in order to get their HEA.

This is a short read, but don’t let that discourage you. A good author has the ability to tell a complete story with lots of emotion and chemistry in a short format. That is exactly what we get with Ms. Croix. I can’t wait to see what else she has planned for the rest of the brothers at the Dumen Ranch.

Asher's Thoughts:
Daughter of Lust by Ann Mayburn was an out of this world story filled with love, intrigue and loads of hot smokiness! :-) I totally fell in love with her characters as they progressed through the story. Natalia stole my heart from the beginning when she was searching for her papa, and meets Gregor for the first time.

Raum is an additional treat as he tries to help Natalia through her emergence as a Demon Princess, and his potential Blood-mate!

I SO cannot wait to read the next adventure in this series, already the little tidbit that Ann has posted on her website has me itching to read it!

My name is DiDi and I am addicted to SHADOW FALLS.

AWAKE AT DAWN picks up where BORN AT MIDNIGHT ends. Kylie is adjusting to the changes in her life and to the thought that she is not 100% human, even though she still does not know "what" she is .

Kylie is just getting used to seeing ghosts when her body starts going through some changes and other "gifts" start popping up, which has Kylie freaked out and the Shadow Falls camp staff mystified albeit excited. Just as things start to calm down around Camp Shadow Falls Kylie starts feeling like someone is watching her and weird things start happening around camp.

Kylie's feelings for Derek are growing, but he senses Kylie has feelings for Lucas, even though Lucas is not at camp, so he starts backing away from Kylie and puts her in the "friend zone". Leaving Kylie hurt and trying to make sense of her feelings about the two boys. Kylie's roommates Della and Miranda, are still in a love/hate relationship, which had me laughing out loud A LOT. The chemistry and tension is mounting between the two adults in charge of Shadow Falls, Burnett and Holiday, but they continue to tiptoe around each other and try to ignore their feelings.

Lucas and Derek, two totally different boys....how is a girl to choose? When I started reading AWAKE AT DAWN, I was totally Team Lucas, but throughout AAD I've been going back and forth and now I am as mixed up as Kylie and don't know which one to like more.

There is so much going in AWAKE AT DAWN it's really hard to get in all in a review. To sum it all up, AWAKE AT DAWN is an emotional thrill ride, full of suspense, action, laughter, multiple love stories going on and an intriguing variety of paranormal species. I could not put this book down and can't wait to start TAKEN AT DUSK as soon as I finish this review.

G: I'm so glad that you are doing this interview!

D: It is a pleasure to be here today, Gennie. Thank you for interviewing me!

G: My first question is fairly basic, "When did you start writing and why?"

D: I've had my nose in a book since before I could read and would beg my parents and grandparents to read to me. Stories have always called to me, though I didn't start writing stories until I was in college. In college I wrote short stories, creative nonfiction and poetry. After I graduated, I moved to TN and had my first short story published in a local horror anthology called More Monsters from Memphis. It was a vampire story and the editor told me it had a strong romantic element. Then at a writer's convention several of us were challenged by Dusty Richards (who is a western author) to write our first novel and make it a western. He offered a contest and the prize was a full read by his agent. I jumped at the challenge, wrote A Desperate Journey, which turned into a romance. At that point I realized I was meant to write romance. The answer to why I write goes back to when I was a child and the answer is simple - for the joy of it.

G: Next, "Both of your published books are historical, western, romance. Do you like this genre best or can we expect stories from other genres in the future?"

D: I read widely across the romance genre and other genres as well, so it's hard to pick a favorite genre, though historical romance comes closest.

My third book, Aboard The Wishing Star, which will be out in Oct. 2012, is a contemporary romance. A fourth, that I am working on now, is medieval romance.

G: "If you had a time machine to use just once, what period of time would you go to or would you stay here?"

D: The most tempting would be the medieval period because it is my favorite, however the reality of that time period would stop me before I pressed the button. I've spent enough time camping at medieval reinactment events to know I like the comforts of the modern world too much to seriously consider leaving them. The future, though, now wouldn't that be the grand adventure? A complete unknown.

G: "What authors influence you and who are your favorites?"

D: I'm not sure which authors influence my writing, because if I am writing a western historical for instance, I will read any genre but that one until I am done. Some of my favorite romance authors are Claire Delacroix, Cathy Maxwell, Lucy Monroe and Toni Blake.

G: "What's your Guilty Pleasure?"

D: Silk. I love the feel of silk against my skin and the way it moves when dancing, walking or simply sleeping.

G: "Is there anything else you'd like our readers to know?"

D: First, I'd like to thank all your readers for stopping by today. There are a couple of events on my calendar that I'm excited about and would like to share.

Piper's Thoughts:
I was SO glad to be back in Virgin River! I did have to stop reading other stories and catch up because I was behind a few books. Being immersed in Virgin River and being with my old friends again was wonderful.

Redwood Bend is the story of Kaite and Dylan. I love Katie and Dylan and of course I want to be BFF's with Katie and all the girls in Virgin River. Katie has 5 year old twin boys and lost her husband Charlie in war. Her brother Conner has always been close, so Katie is heading to Virgin River from Vermont to be closer to Conner and his new love Leslie. Dylan is a former child star who was taken away from Hollywood by his grandmother Adele (LOVE her and Randy!) to live in Montana, even though Adele is a movie star as well.

Katie and Dylan meet when he and his friends who are on a bike ride stop to help with a flat tire, and for Katie seeing Dylan that first time was all it took. I loved watching the relationship between Katie and Dylan grow. Dylan feels like he is not long term material because of his parents many marriages and relationships. He is so wonderful with Katie and her boys but it takes a lot of ups and downs for him realize he is worth the happines he finds with Katie and the boys. I enjoyed the back and forth between these two. Katie makes Dylan work for it! Katie is a strong women, like all of the Virgin River women, even after all she has been through. I love that she always puts her boys first and does things on her own. She can even change the oil in her SUV! I loved the relationship between her and her brother Conner. Even when Conner is a bit over protective she loves him anyway and tells him to butt out.

Another great story from Robyn Carr. I know somewhere out there is a real Virgin River and I want to vist, but until then I will just have to read these wonderful stories. I did miss some of my old friends. This book is really based around Katie and Dylan and I liked that, but did miss the second story we are used to in older Virgin River books, but I was not disappointed in the story. Once again I laughed out loud and cried a little. I am always so amazed how I just fall in love with these stories. Robyn Carr pulls you in and you just do not want it to end! I am looking forward to Nora and Tom's story next.

This book can only be defined as nail biting excitement! It kept me on edge from the moment I first opened it! The chemistry between the main characters was explosive and hot, I'm surprised I didn't set my Kindle on fire! :-)

I can definitely say I am looking forward to more from this fabulous author!

Kitty's Review - Chase and Seduction by Randi Alexander

Country music superstar/actor Chase Tanner has yet to be denied anything—and he's never wanted anything or anyone more than gorgeous screenplay writer Reno Linden. So when the film they are working on is finally finished, Chase decides to turn up the volume on seducing Reno.

Reno Linden lived a quiet, rural life until she was thrust into the Hollywood scene when her book was adapted to film. Chase Tanner is larger than life, sinfully sexy and hell-bent on getting her into bed. Skittish after a failed engagement, Reno risks the plunge into Chase's arms, and is surprised that her good girl self can keep up with bad boy Chase.

Though Chase returns to his cowboy roots often, and Reno cherishes the time spent with him on his ranch, the two find their careers pulling them in different directions. Will their attraction survive the glitz and stress of fame?

Kitty's Thoughts:
I enjoyed the Hollywood to Texas to South Dakota theme behind the book and the cowboy/musician/actor/writer story was interesting. Unfortunately, it was a little choppy in places. The beginning of the story leads you to believe that it is going to be a story of seduction – chase and catch – work for it – kind of book. But, all of a sudden Reno gives in. There was no lead up or ultimate seduction that you thought you would have since she was so against getting involved with Chase and the “glitz” of his lifestyle. One minute Reno is running from his trailer on the set and the next she is at a cocktail party and getting ready to jump into bed with Chase with no explanation as to why she changed her mind within 24 hours. On the same note, you have Chase writing and singing a beautiful love song for/to Reno and then turning into a crass “hick”, as he calls himself in the book. A little bit of whip-lash with the way the characters change from good to bad and then back to good again. I absolutely loved Chase when he was being open and honest with Reno. Then I absolutely hated him when he became the jerk that he was led to believe he was.

Ultimately I feel the author was trying to show all sides of the characters she created - loving, happy, sad, indifferent. I would have loved to have seen this book elaborate a little more on the background of both Reno and Chase. It seemed that when they started opening up to one another, a sex scene was thrown in. The scenes were very explicit and well written (HOT, HOT, HOT) but, sometimes, at odds with what was going on in the book at the time, which left me thinking “where did that come from?". We are given a hints of why they feel the way they do about themselves, why they are having hot, just-this-side-of Vanilla sex, but no real explanations.

Randi Alexander's website states that she mainly wrote romance fiction and that this is her first Erotic Romance. I am looking forward to reading the other books that she has scheduled to come out in the “Wild and Wicked Cowboys” series through Wild Rose Press. Overall, this book was a decent read with hot, sweaty sex and a happy ending.

Gennie's Thoughts:
Dangerous Ties by Debra Parmley is truly a ride off into the sunset type, western historical romance. The story begins with our heroine, Lillian, being tortured because of her fiancé who swindled the whole town and left without a trace. Everyone believes she knows where he put the gold, but she has no clue. Left with little hope, Lillian is resigned to dying a horrible death, but then our hero, Nick, happens upon her and is able to save her.

After such a dramatic opening, the rest of the story is a series of figuring out who did what, to whom and where is the gold! During this short amount of time Lillian and Nick develop a strong bond and a tremendous attraction to one another. Nick gives Lillian hope and strength when she has none, and Lillian brings some of the softer side to Nick’s rough and tumble cowboy life.

This is a good story with lots of action and chemistry. I think if you like a traditional, historical romance, you will love this book.

First Impressions

First impressions. They’re so important, aren’t they? It’s also the moment when we can get a shot of “Wow”, or an “Ugh” when a character spots the other person for that initial glimpse.

But what if the first time you see someone, it’s not really the first time? In Rocky Mountain Desire the hero and heroine know each other, but not in the context of romance. Although, if they’re both honest, the attraction is there.

Here’s Hope taking in Matt. It’s not the way she’d like to be getting back into his radar…

“Colemans?” Oh shoot. She’d been so focused on the offer of the instant cash she desperately needed, the one question Hope hadn’t thought to ask Trish was the name of tonight’s client.

She snuck a glance through the doorframe. Familiar faces greeted her. Guys she’d gone to school with, guys she saw on a daily basis all over town. That part wasn’t a surprise—she’d figured the crowd would be locals, but damn… Why had she thought this was a good idea?

The money. Every bit helped.

Staring into a sea of Colemans wasn’t what she needed. And when she instinctively managed to find Matt in the crowd, life got just that much stinkier.

“You’re up, Hope. Go give them what for.” Trish’s firm push between the shoulders was the only thing that stopped her from turning tail and racing from the bar without a backward glance.

Matt sat to the side of the room, laughing with his brothers as they joined together in that wall of impenetrable camaraderie she’d always admired. That’s what family was supposed to be like, not cutthroat and undermining.

She only had a second to take him in. His dark hair was longer now, and a neatly trimmed beard and mustache covered his chin and upper lip. Oh God, he’d grown a mustache.

She loved what he looked like with facial hair.

Hope snapped her gaze to the ground and stepped forward in time to the music, resisting the urge to glance up and discover Matt’s response. Of anyone in the crowd, he’d be the most likely to recognize her.

Oops. Going to make the best of it, it seems. But now what about Matt? What’s going through his head in this same moment? Let’s see!

Matt ignored everything but the woman on the stage. The teeny bits of fabric clinging to her were as close to being naked as a person could get. Plump, round breasts—heavier than his ex’s. In fact, the overall curves on the woman on the stage were more pronounced. Matt didn’t mind, not one bit.

Long hair pooled around the dancer’s shoulders, the strands covering her breasts for a moment, then flowing out of the way like a peek-a-boo screen. He wanted to run a hand over the swell of her hip to see if the glow was from the heat of her skin or if it was a trick of the light.

He rocked in his chair, willing his dick to settle down. There was still a lot left to the evening, and hell if he’d sit there with aching balls the entire time.

He dragged his gaze back up to the dancer’s face, confusion dogging him. She wore a small half mask over her eyes. Part of her costume, he guessed, but the silver material hid enough it was impossible to get a clear focus on her features. He swore there was something familiar about her, but just couldn’t nail down what.

Then she made eye contact. Even through the mask he could tell—she was staring directly at him. His breath caught, his cock jerked. Anticipation rose. She shimmied in his direction. Daniel nudged his arm, and when one of the cousins stepped between them, blocking his view, Matt rose to his feet without thinking.

She was still looking his way—as if seeking him out. The slow curl of her lips turned them to a sinful smile that made his body ache.

“I think someone likes you,” Blake teased.

“Fuck you.”

“Think you’re the one who needs a fucking. You’ve been a bloody asshole lately. Why don’t you go say hi? Get her name and you can call her later and ask her out.”

“She’s a dancer at your party—”

“Who is staring at you as she’s leaving the stage.” Daniel pushed Matt. “I’m not telling you to jump her or anything, but dancers are allowed to have a private life. You saying you wouldn’t date a dancer?”

“Hell, that’s not it at all.” Matt didn’t give a damn as long as she was doing it of her own free will, and the group he’d contracted had a sterling reputation. “Forget it, okay? We’re here for you. All discussion of my sex life is over.”

Daniel waved a hand. “Fine. Do whatever you want. Just pointing out you’re a gloomy ass and we know how to drink without supervision.”

Oh Matt, are you in for a surprise, or two.

That’s one of the best parts about first impressions in a story. There’s more than one. There’s the moment you set eyes on a person, but also the time you start to really see who they are, beyond the trappings of the outside situation.

And that’s what makes Rocky Mountain Desire a lot of fun. Two people who have an attraction to each other that they aren’t sure what to do with. Beyond attraction there’s a whole lot of getting to know each other better that needs to happen before the HEA can arrive.

This is a Young Adult Book....SHOCKED that I read it? ME TOO! I'm not much into young adult, I usually need to read about adults getting down and dirty and falling in love. I'm also not one to read a series where each book has the same Herione and not a HEA at the end of every book. So why did I agree to read BORN AT MIDNIGHT? I read it because C.C. Hunter is a pen name for Christie Craig and I LOVE Ms. Craig's contemporary, adult romances, she has a style that keeps me up all night reading. Ms. Craig can't put her books out fast enough for me, so I decided to try her C.C. Hunter books, I was not disappointed.

"Normal" teenagers' lives are filled with drama and angst. Try being a teenager who's parents are divorcing, who's mom is convinced you need a shrink, the shrink sends you off to a camp, where you happen to find out you are surrounded by SUPERNATURALS and you may not be human, and if you aren't human no one knows exactly what you are. Let's throw in a cheating ex-boyfriend, a sexy Fae boy and a sexy were-boy who are all vying for your attention. Your bunkmates are a witch and vampire who you have to keep from killing each other, constantly. Oh and a DEAD SOLDIER is following you around.....This is what Kylie's life is like, no wonder she thinks she is losing it.

As I started reading BORN AT MIDNIGHT I was pulled further and further into the story. There is humor, angst, mystery and a cast of characters that I couldn't get enough of. There is even a bit of an adult romance going on in the background that has me intrigued and anxious to see what happens.

As soon as I finished BORN AT MIDNIGHT, I knew book 2, AWAKE AT DAWN would be the next book I read.

C.C. Hunter's SHADOW FALLS series is off to a great start and has this dyed in the wool, adult romance lover addicted to this intriguing, charming, funny new world she has created.

Have you ever been forced to go to those family functions that you just dread because you know that one of your family members might torture you mentally, emotionally, or both? That is what happens to Lauren Vaughn after her sister gets engaged to the man that Lauren had a crush on. If only she hadn't introduced them, perhaps she would be the one celebrating while her sister pouts in the corner. Unfortunately for her that is not the case and Lauren finds herself at Mount Charleston, a ski resort just outside of Las Vegas where her sister is having her bachelor/bachelorette party weekend before the big day. Feeling like the black sheep of the bunch, Lauren hides in the corner of the bar hoping to avoid the humiliation of being asked to serve drinks when she notices a handsome man wearing a black handkerchief in his back, left pocket. He was flagging! Jamie knew what that handkerchief meant and was curious to know more about this mysterious Dom looking for some fun. She didn't have to wait long.

Jamie Forman noticed the pretty girl all alone at the bar and couldn't quite tell if she was checking out his back side or the flag in his back pocket. After throwing out some investigative questions, he learns that Lauren is new to the lifestyle but well aware of it and ready to play. When he proposes an evening of controlled pleasure, Lauren is quick to agree and heads off to see if Jamie is just what she has been waiting for and if a good spanking is what she really needs.

This was a fun and somewhat light BDSM story with some serious undertones. I really enjoy how easy it is to identify with Lauren and the fact that she is not the "golden child" of her family. It is difficult being in the shadow of a sibling and when Lauren learns that her sister's relationship isn't all sunshine and roses, she realizes the grass isn't always greener and gives in to her inner needs rather than a childhood infatuation. Sometimes we need to take that leap of faith and that is exactly what Lauren does. Now if Jaime can get over his own fears, perhaps the two will realize that they are perfect for one another.

Gillian Archer has done a fantastic job bringing readers into the nervousness that comes with being a newbie to BDSM. While the scenes in this book are not hard core, they do portray the underlying issues that BDSM can bring out in both a Dom and a Sub. Fear, trust, jealousy, and love are all things that must be understood and dealt with in such a relationship and Gillian conveys that sensitivity in a sweet but expressive story about a woman finally standing up for what she wants and a man ready to get over his childhood fears.

Gennie's Thoughts:
Sarah Black is a new author for me, and to be honest I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. However, after I saw a few friends on Goodreads give “Marlowe’s Ghost” a good review I decided to see what all the buzz was about and I was NOT disappointed.

I really like the main characters Will and Tommy. Will is an ex-marine who enlisted so he could use the GI Bill after combat to study classics. Tommy has lived a fairly privileged life and has a sky-high IQ. Tommy has also just entered remission from Leukemia.

Ms. Black does a fantastic job of allowing the reader to fall in love with the characters on their own and together as a couple. There are some fun and quirky scenes that include Gumby, GI Joe, the BM, yellow Chelsea boots and other various toys. This book will make you laugh and have you do a little research as well.

Will and Tommy are on a journey to figure out why Kit Marlowe appears in this century and what truly happened to him in 1593. I’ll be honest, my English Literature skills and memory were not up to snuff in order to follow some of the leads in the book. I had to eventually succumb to the black hole of Wikipedia in order to sort things out.

All in all I really enjoyed this book and wish it would have been longer because I think I could read an entire series based on these fellows. I recommend this book for those who like intellectual pursuits of the highest realm and silly little games with children’s toys. I promise that sentence will make sense after you read the book!! :)

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The hero and heroine were well-matched and had great chemistry.

Kate is a wonderful mother with a heavy load of past baggage. She is a single mom who is trying to re-start her life after a nasty divorce. She left behind a successful career as a song writer after marrying her now ex husband and doesn’t feel that she can go back to that part of her life. She is putting her entire focus and divorce settlement into opening a bed and breakfast in the Tennessee hills.

Colton is a professional baseball player who is recovering from an injury. He needs to get away and heal without having to worry about reporters and contracts. After some humorous situations arise he ends up staying with Kate at the B & B.

These two people couldn’t be more wrong for each other. He is used to different women and no commitments; she doesn’t want a rich man that can buy his way through life. There was just the right amount of humor and wit to keep things interesting. The sarcastic banter between these two throughout the book was amazing. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much while reading a story.

I couldn’t help but to admire the way Colton cared for Kate’s daughter Lindsay. He played with her and took her for walks and really came to love her. It was heartwarming to see their relationship grow.

Kate and Colton are in two completely separate places in their lives. They have to discover in their own way what exactly they desire and are willing to fight for. You can’t help but to cheer for them to get their HEA. There are ups and downs and a little suspense thrown in the story line.

The romantic tension that is woven through the book doesn't disappoint. I fell in love with them immediately and enjoyed the twists and turns leading to a great ending.

Relentless is an action packed, emotional roller coaster, complete with hotter than hades lovin', a determined fiesty heroine, a strong sexy hero and a close knit secondary cast.

Rhys Sinclair is the epitome of strong, silent type. His legendary iron clad control is unshakable, until he meets sweet, smart, sexy, feisty Neveah, the he proves true the old saying "The bigger they are, the harder they fall.". Neveah has survived the unimaginable at the hands of terrorists, she also was instrumental in saving Rhys' life when he was injured while rescuing her.

Rhys is sent to protect Neveah from a possible terrorist attack. When they are thrown together, they cannot fight their attraction. Rhys has always been the strong twin, never showing emotion or affection, always cleaning up his brother Ben's messes. Neveah has amazing strength and determination to not only move on from her horrible ordeal, but also show Rhys that their love is worth pursuing. Watching Rhys allow himself to "feel" and blossom under the love and affection Neveah showered on him is one of the most beautiful things I have had the pleasure of reading. He is sweet, sexy, dominant and loyal, all the things that make

Ms. Cross, does not pull any punches with her heroines, if they are in a dangerous situation, she does not "save" them right before they get hurt. Neveah ends up in a tight situation once again and Rhys blames himself. Rhys is heartbroken and about to loose control, this situation ends in an emotionally sweet scene between Rhys and Ben, with even a touch of humor.

Ms. Cross is so well adept at conveying emotions in her stories that she had me crying over a pair of chopsticks!

Relentless is my favorite of the series so far. I am anxious to start Absolution, throughout the series, we witness the heartbreak both Luke and Emily live with because of their divorce over twenty years ago. Absolution is their story and I am excited to read how Ms. Cross delivers a story with an older H/h.

Gennie's Thoughts:
Eli’s Way is another fun addition to the Lynn Hagen’s paranormal world. In this installment we are back to the politics of Christian’s Coven and dealing with the aftermath of the evil ex-elder Mallon. Eli was found beaten and hardly recognizable in Mallon’s lair and Jersey, a member of Christian’s Coven discovered Eli was his mate when Eli was brought to The Manacle for safe keeping.

As always there is drama involved when a human is changed with no knowledge of the paranormals around them. Eli literally wakes to a world he did not know existed and discovers that he is mated to Jersey and he is not even “out” in his normal life. What I like about this book as opposed to some others in this saga is that Eli’s father is open to continuing a relationship with his son after he finds out that Eli is gay. This continuation of family ties made me happy. The path isn’t easy, but at least communication is still open.

All and all, if you have become addicted to the writings of Lynn Hagen as I have, you will enjoy this installment. If you haven’t yet discovered this series, I would recommend you read the other books before this one, because there is a lot of back story that you will not know.

L: Hi Tiffany! First off, let me say that I'm stoked to be chatting with you, and thanks so much for stopping by Guilty Pleasures and answering some questions. You have a TON of fans on here.

T: Thank you so much for inviting me, Lee! I’m excited to be chatting with you!

L: No Turning Back is your debut novel. Was there a reason you decided to go the suspense/romance route with your first story?

T: I’ve always loved romance novels and started reading them when I was probably too young to be reading that sort of thing! Over the years, I realized that the romances I particularly enjoyed also had a bit of a “thriller” aspect to them – a mystery to solve or a bad guy to catch. I felt that was the kind of story I could write best. I’m in awe of the writers of genres such as Paranormal Romance (which I know is very hot right now) – their imagination and worlds they create are amazing to me as I don’t think I’d ever be able to be that creative!

L: I don’t know anyone that doesn’t enjoy a good love triangle. The fact that yours stars two brothers makes it even yummier! But I have to admit, I’m Team Kade all the way. Is there going to be more with him and Kathleen in future books? For some reason I really want Kade to have a HEA so if there is any dirt you can dish, that would be fantastic!!

T: Kade does feature prominently in the sequel to NO TURNING BACK, which I hope to have out by Spring. It’s very interesting to me how some readers are Team Blane and others are Team Kade – I can’t predict which side is more prevalent. I love them both and still have not decided how their stories will turn out.

Reader input will be a large influence on that – I want the readers to be as happy with how the series ends as how it began.

L: What made you decide to turn Kathleen’s story into a series, as opposed to just ending it with one book?

T: I turned Kathleen’s story into a series because I wanted more time with the characters. The best part of any book, for me, is getting to know and become invested in the characters and their relationships with one another. I didn’t feel one book was enough to take the characters I’d created from where they began to where I want them to be.

L: Your second story in this series is coming out in the Spring, and considering you have so many die hard fans in here is there any way you could give us the scoop on Turn to Me?

T: Absolutely! In TURN TO ME, Kathleen is going to learn a lot more about both Blane and Kade – who they are, their pasts and their relationship to one another. Blane will be working on a case that hits very close to home with repercussions for himself, Kade and Kathleen. Danger lurks around every corner when someone who wants to influence the outcome of that case decides to target Kathleen.

L: As a reader I can tell you that I suffered some serious anxiety while reading No Turning Back So I can only imagine how it must have been for you to write it. Was it difficult to write such a suspenseful story?

T: I love to surprise the reader – the last thing I wanted NO TURNING BACK to be was predictable. Writing the action scenes was so much fun – Kathleen’s no action hero, but she manages to make-do...with a little help from Blane and Kade. I also find that I tend to gravitate to a particular song for inspiration. While writing NO TURNING BACK, it was Toxic by Britney Spears (which I managed to work into the story). I’ve found my “theme” song for TURN TO ME to be Superman Tonight by Bon Jovi (if that gives you any hints).

L: Now, you work full time and are married with TWO children. Where on earth do you find the time and energy to write and is there any way to bottle some of that energy up and send it my way?

T: Lol! I wish it came in a bottle! It’s hard to find time to write and I don’t have the luxury very often of sitting at my computer, staring at the empty page and creating. I usually use my commute time and any other “down” time I have to write in my head, so when I finally get the time in front of the computer, it’s planned out already. Sometimes it may be several days before I get time to write, which is why it’s taken a few months longer to finish TURN TO ME than I had hoped. But, unfortunately, I have to eat and buy electricity for the children, so I won’t be quitting my day job anytime soon!

L: How many books are you planning on writing in this series?

T: I am planning on writing a series of four or five books (definitely four – maybe five) starring Kathleen, Blane and Kade.

L: Will you be writing other stories in between or is the Kathleen Turner series your main focus?

T: I really do better creatively if I focus on one thing at time and let the characters live in my head. I find it can be hard to reconnect with them if I go play with others rather than finishing their story. (Plus, Kathleen is quite insistent on wanting to know how this all turns out.)

L: In No Turning Back you briefly touched on the fact that Blane was a former Navy Seal (sigh) will his background in the Seals be detailed further in your future books?

T: I have the highest respect for our military and it was an homage to them that Blane is one of their member. In TURN TO ME, we learn more about Blane’s service and its impact on his present. The story of Chris Kyle and his autobiography “American Sniper- the Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History” was also an inspiration for the plot of TURN TO ME.

L: Obviously, you wrote both Kade and Blane to be SMOKIN HOT! Were there any particular celebrity crushes you might have used as inspiration with these two men?

T: It helps me to have a visual of Blane and Kade as I write, so I did find some actors that fit the bill and became those characters in my mind. For Blane, I chose Mark Valley (recently of the TV show “Human Target”). Granted, Mark’s eyes are blue rather than green, but he was perfectly suited otherwise. Kade was inspired by Ian Somerhalder’s portrayal of Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries.

L: Thank you so much for chatting and I (along with all of our followers) will be anxiously awaiting the release of Turn to Me in the Spring. We all wish you the best of luck and hope to chat with you again!

Kimber’s Thoughts:

I’ve read several amazing books so far this year and this one was added to that list. It was one of those books I could not put down, gobbled it up in less than a day, and then was crushed when I finished. Taking a Shot centers around Jenna, sister to Mick and Gavin (main characters in the two previous books in the series) and Tyler. Jenna runs the family sports bar, has been around sports/athletes her entire life and has sworn off dating guys who have anything to do with sports. In walks Tyler Anderson, famous hockey star. Tyler’s been hanging around the bar for a few months with his team mates, notices Jenna immediately and sets his sights on her. She thinks he’s cocky, he says he’s confident. She turns him down so many times I lost count but he’s determined to prove her wrong about jocks. I admit, I stayed extremely frustrated with her character and at times wanted to shake her senseless because of the way she treated Ty, but the book is so well written and fast paced it did not drag. I TOTALLY connected with both of them and the emotions were push and pull. As soon as I thought they were on the right track Jenna would pull back. IMO, it kept is interesting, which is why I couldn’t put it down.

Another enjoyable aspect of the book was getting a glimpse of characters from the previous books. The fact that the series revolves around a family is always a plus because we usually get to “re-visit” those characters we love. In this case for me, it was Liz. I liked her more in this book than I did in the previous one. She continues to grow on me. She always says what’s on her mind, no matter what, which is a quality I like in a person. Also, we are lucky enough to read about Mick and Tara’s wedding. They are a nauseatingly sweet couple and having all the girls in on the wedding planning was lots of fun to read too.

I'm from a sports family myself, grew up with two brothers who played sports, so I could relate to Jenna somewhat. I, however never sworn off dating jocks. In fact, that's about all I dated. I mention this because I am a HUGE fan of sport themed romance books and it's sad but they are few and far between. I felt the hockey game scenes were written well and descriptive enough I felt like I was at the game, pulling for the ICE. Heck, Jaci could write about jumping rope and I'd be on board.

Jaci Burton owns a sex scene! Between the sexy dirty-talk dialog, the carnal sex scenes, and the electrically charged emotions, it’s no wonder I was riding an emotional high all the way to the last page if not long after. I may still be suffering from the effects this book had on me. PLAY BY PLAY is a MUST READ series if like erotic romance at its best.

HOLY ZAMBONI!!! TAKING A SHOT IS HOT ENOUGH TO MELT THE POLAR ICE CAPS!

Growing up with two hot shot jocks and in a family that runs a sports bar, has caused Jenna to enforce a "Don't date athletes" policy. This dating policy makes her love life dismal at best because she now runs the family bar. Jenna does not have a hard time resisting jocks UNTIL uber sexy Tyler Anderson walks in the bar. For months Jenna gives Tyler the same cold shoulder she gives to all the athletes, but he makes her feel anything but cold. Ty is intrigued by Jenna, she is different than the normal women he is attracted to, not only in looks, he senses an inner depth Jenna is hiding, so he sets out to woo her.

When Jenna finally gives in to their attraction the flames burn out of control. Tyler is so totally into Jenna, good gawd is he hot!!! He is sweet, passionate, understanding, funny and not afraid to show his emotions. Tyler is one of my favorite Heroes of 2012, it's hard to explain, but he's not really the typical Alpha, he is take charge and dominant, however he also lets Jenna take charge in the bedroom, and take charge she does. Jenna is a strong, feisty, hardheaded heroine, at times I almost didn't like her....but Tyler keeps at her until she finally lets all her real emotions and desires come to the surface, then I totally "get" her. When she feels comfortable enough to start letting her vulnerability come out, I start rooting for the two of them to have their HEA. One thing I really LOVED about Jenna, she knows what she likes during sex and isn't afraid to demand it and Ty is just the man to give it to her. =)

Jenna has always been in the shadows of her talented brothers, but Ty discovers she is hiding a talent of her own and pushes her to let her family know. This is an extremely emotional part of the story and I can honestly say I personally can relate to Jenna and how she felt growing up. Ms. Burton does an exceptional job depicting the feelings of a young girl growing up with two very talented brothers.

Jaci Burton, describes the hockey game scenes so vividly, that I could feel the chill of the ice, the roar of the crowd and the bodies hitting the boards.

TAKING A SHOT is an emotional journey with off the charts hot lovin' and all the Riley's we have come to love, plus some new sexy characters! Liz is back and you can't help but love her, her relationship with Gavin has changed her, but some of her old ways are still there. Mick, Tara and Nathan, how I love all three of them. And NATHAN...oh boy...he's growing into quite young man =) I love Momma and Poppa Riley, their interactions with Jenna when she finally opened up had me crying.

Jaci Burton scores the winning goal with TAKING A SHOT! It is a great addition to her Play by Play series. TAKING A SHOT can be read as a stand alone, but I still recommend reading in order, just so you don't miss out on the amazing Riley family dynamics.

Now I'm chompin' at the bit for, Jenna. Mick and Gavin's, cousin Cole's story, PLAYING TO WIN. Jaci Burton delivers winning books time after time in her PLAY BY PLAY series!

WOW! was my first thought after reading this impressive book by new to me author Rachel Grace (R.G. Alexander). The book is actually divided into two connecting stories, where the first story ends, the second picks up. I’m placing Geared for Pleasure in the fantasy/science fiction category. Some call it Steampunk, but others are not familiar with that term yet. I always love a good fantasy action book and that’s exactly what I got with this one and the added erotic romance was an added bonus. The author paints a gloriously vivid picture of the world of Theorrey and I quickly became enthralled with this world and intrigued with the fascinating cast of characters.

In the first story, Earthly Desires, we meet Dare, the missing Queen’s chalice and close friend, and Bodhan the captain of the underwater vessel, the Siren. The captain has many colorful people aboard his ship which we learn enough about to keep us guessing. The story begins with Dare leaving her post because someone has kidnapped the Queen and it is her job to find her and bring her back safe. She ends up on the Siren with the most handsome captain who is just as leery of her as she is of him. I felt sorry for Dare throughout the story because everything she believed true in her life ends up being something different and she seems somewhat lost. And although the captain presents himself rather illusive, once he begins to have feelings for her, he stops at nothing to assist with her mission. Their love affair is seductive, sexy, and filled with passion. Bodhan is one of those characters with commanding presence. The man makes my toes curl.

So, now that we know all about Theorrey- the secrets, lies, deceitful, and traitorous behavior, we pick up right where we left off. Only this story centers around Cyrus, the Queen’s Sword and Phina, a dangerously seductive woman who can charm the pants off of any man in order to steel from him. Phina goes from a supporting role in the first story to front and center in the 2^nd. Cyrus worked with Dare in the castle but was betrayed and kidnapped only to find his way back to the Deviant, the air ship used to further the mission this go around. Phina is a complex and highly sexual creature who never thought she could have happiness and true love. She is a hard one to break, but Cyrus is the man up for the task, which makes him perfect for her. I love them together because even though they found their HEA, it will NEVER be boring. They will each keep the other one on their toes. Their crusade is packed full of action, steamy sex, and even more interesting characters are brought into the mix.

The author did a wonderful job with the character development and world building and I couldn’t be more excited to read the next book of stories in the series. No matter if they are small or large, cliff hangers are just wrong, so I’ll need the next release to hurry and get here.

Buckle your seatbelts and get ready for an action packed and erotic adventure that will leave you wanting more from the world of Theorrey.

Sometimes when you are used to being the woman in charge it is good to let someone else take over. That is how Jillian felt after finally acting on her attraction toward her coworker Peter. After celebrating the completion of a presentation for a big client she finds herself naked and pleasantly sore. When the memory of the promise she made comes forward, Jillian thinks she made a mistake and tries to talk her way out of it. How on Earth could she promise to let two men control her for an entire week? When Peter's partner Sean shows up and sternly reminds Jillian of the promise she made, Jillian realizes that backing out is not an option.

Sean and Peter have wanted to dominate Jillian for some time. Now that they have her, they intend to show her how pleasurable pain can be. What they don't realize is that Jillian loves to give as much as she gets and believes in equal pay for equal play. She agrees to let the team dominate her but only if she can give them a taste of their own medicine in return. After reluctantly accepting the terms the duo proceed to strap, stretch, whip, wax and pleasantly torture her into falling for them. It is only when a figurative wrench is thrown into the plan that Jillian questions her future and wonders if one bad decision could change her life forever.

I really really enjoyed this book and found myself giggling at the interactions between the three characters. While Peter and Sean dominate Jillian, it is very clear that she is still in charge. She allows them to push her limits but does not hesitate to remind them that there will be hell to pay for leaving her sore. It is obvious that the men are not actual doms and they remind me more of two frat boys planning out their fantasy bondage session with a sorority girl. They show that they are willing to submit to Jillian and even allow her to turn the tables on them with some of the toys they bought for her. With some seriously hot bondage scenes and a reinactment of a porn star fisting session that will make you squeal, this book left me smiling and wanting to be the voyeur to their next playdate. Fun and daring!

DREAM KISSES is what I consider a PG/PG-13 book, the chemistry is hot, but the lovin' goes on behind closed doors.

Grab your tissues and hold on tight because this one is an emotional roller coaster! (Warning: If you have not read the three books preceeding this one, read those first or you will spoil the story that unfolds through the series.) In the fourth installment of the Compass Brothers series we now see the story unfold from Sawyer Compton's point of view. After getting inked with the compass tattoo that adorns the backs of his brothers, Sawyer decides to head west and live his dream of seeing the ocean. He joins the Coast Guard and works his way up in the ranks but decides to come home after a series of events take place. Before getting back to Compass Ranch, Sawyer makes a weekend side trip to California to blow off some steam at a local BDSM club. His plans quickly change when he sees his childhood friend who he believes is way too sweet to be dealing with the dark side of such a place.

Leah Hollister is a kindergarten teacher who is tired of being in control all of the time. She lived a poor life and worked to get by. She has never left Wyoming and after hearing her best friend discuss the sexually charged stories of having a Dom for a boyfriend, Leah decides to give BDSM a try in hopes of adding some excitement to her lackluster sex life. Adorned with a simple white bracelet, Leah is immediately given the label of a sub looking for a Dom. What she was not prepared for, was running into her childhood crush, Sawyer Compton, who looked every bit the Alpha male. He doubts her understanding of the lifestyle and she is desperate to prove that she wants to be controlled. When Sawyer realizes his family has been keeping secrets, he rushes home with Leah to confront his family and his fears.

All I can say is WOW! This book had me grinning from ear to ear and crying at the same time. Sawyer and Leah share such an emotional bond through their exploration with BDSM and I ached everytime Leah gave in when she knew Sawyer needed her. The fact that her life was so emotionally painful and that the story could convey how the physical pain Sawyer offered was her release and how her willingness to submit was his, was simply breathtaking. They feed off of eachother and through that, they realize that their relationship is much more than each one had lead on.

The bond between the Compton family was so emotional and the likeness of Sawyer to his father made me smile every time Vicky would hint at the similarities. Make sure you keep your tissues handy, especially when all the tattoos are in the open. I simply couldn't stop the waterworks. To top that off, as much as I dread reading about funerals, this one was so happy that I cried tears of joy that the family was able to carry out the last requests and giggled a bit at what they were. If only all families were so understanding of eachother's differences and unique tastes. I loved this book and would recommend the whole series to any reader.

I love the raw emotion in the scenes with Sawyer and Leah and how honest they are with their emotions. This is a sexy story but the family story is just as powerful and will have you smiling and weeping with each turn of the page. Western Ties is a beautifully told story of how BDSM can help heal a person's emotions and how families can come together to heal each other.

An absolute must read!

I CANNOT wait for everyone to read this book. I absolutely loved it! Reading Western Ties was bittersweet for me though. It’s one of those stories I’ve anticipated and craved for many months- couldn’t wait to get my grubby little hands all over Sawyer, I mean, on his book. But-going into it knowing it was the last book in series also made me a little sad. See, that’s what happens when you get so attached to the characters and they feel like family, like you’re part of their family. Yes, I know they are fictional characters, but they seem real to me. So, kudos to Jayne Rylon and Mari Carr for writing such an amazing, emotionally charged series.

Sawyer and Leah’s story captivated me right off the bat. What starts as a slow burn when he first sets eyes on her at a BDSM party quickly ignites to a full-blown bon fire before their weekend is over. ALL of their sex scenes are SUPER steamy. They are another great Compton couple with that perfect balance that makes them fit together so well. Outside of the bedroom, he’s easy going and charming and she’s wound up tight and way too serious. However, behind closed doors there is never any doubt he is 100% ALPHA male and she turns out to be his equal because she not only takes everything he dishes out but relishes in the idea of him being rough, which is a total surprise to him. Leah is also a bit of a control freak, strong but kind and caring- the type that would always be there for you whenever you needed her. This proves to be more than true when Sawyer rushes home after discovering his family has been hiding something terrible from him, and their perfect weekend of D/s sex is cut short, which prevents them from further exploring this new connection. However, Leah is determined to be by his side to support him any way she can, even if that includes a willing body when Sawyer needs to blow off some steam or forget his troubles.

When Sawyer arrives to the family farm it’s under the worst of circumstances. Not only does he find out the details of his father's terminal illness, he also feels betrayed by his brothers, especially his twin, Sam. The tension is high which causes his true feelings for Leah to be put on the back burner. He definitely cares for her, but feels he cannot give her what he thinks she needs, a “boyfriend.” She proves him wrong time and time again when she shows up at the house to just be there for him, no strings attached and no commitment needed. Nevertheless, his behavior is such a contrast. One minute he’s going all DOM, the next he’s showing her the tenderness every girl can only dream of. Tender and heartfelt moments are aplenty in this book--from scenes with the brothers, Sawyer and his mom, the double wedding, all the kids with JD towards the end, Vicky and JD in the final days, not to mention all the wonderful scenes with Sawyer and Leah. You will need plenty of tissue. But one of the most rewarding moments I’ve read in any book is the celebration of JDs life when all four of his sons spoke to the gathering of people (most of the town), at the service on their family ranch. In true JD fashion, he didn’t want anyone sitting around crying over him. He knew exactly what his family would need and had them plan “a big-ass party.”

Favorite Sawyer quote: - “I think I may have gotten the best of both worlds tonight. I landed a nice girl who wants to be bad. That’s better than riding the bull eight seconds, darling.”

Favorite JD Quote to Sawyer - “Be happy. Find what makes you smile and hold on tight to it.”

JD once said Leah was a rose in a field of dandelions, and Saw’s nickname for her was Rose........*sigh*

As bittersweet as it was, it was also the perfect ending to a wonderful series. I’ve been emotionally involved with the Comptons from the first few pages of the first book. The authors have written these can’t-help-but-fall-in-love-with characters that you not only want to know more about but you find yourself thinking about long after you finish the last page. The family dynamics will draw you in and the flaming hot romances are enough to melt your panties right off.

My Only Blog Tour - The Importance of Family by Sophia Duane

The importance of family in My Only.

In my novel, My Only, we get to see alternative family structures. There is an increasing amount of non-traditional families in today’s society. The novel features two kinds: one which features a single father caring for his high school-aged twin boys, the other in which grandparents are guardians of their teenaged granddaughter.

These two structures are seemingly similar, and yet completely different. Adam and Aaron James have lost their mother very early in their lives. They are well-adjusted to the fact that in her absence, their father has to work third shift, sleeping all day and be out of the house all night. While twin brother Aaron doesn’t seem to have the desire to help out, we see that Adam takes his responsibilities seriously. Cleaning, cooking, making sure his family is up and ready to go. Adam does what he can to help his father cope with a domestic life.

Olivia doesn’t seem to help her grandparents out with housework (at least not that we see), but she does allow them to occupy a good amount of mental space when she’s making decisions or forming plans. Having recently lost her mother, Olivia understands the burden her grandparents have taken on. While she may not push herself to keep a tidy bedroom, she does take their opinions and thoughts into account (even when she disagrees and dislikes them).

I suppose one reason both of these non-traditional family structures are featured is because I’ve experienced both of them. When I was about ten, I lived with my single father for a few years, and experienced the juggling act that it is. In the scope of the book, we only see Mr. James as a father to nearly full-grown adults, but we can imagine how difficult it must have been to raise a set of twins on his own.

As for the Cartwrights, my own grandparents took in my cousins after their mother died and I was lucky enough to witness that type of family situation. It must take a lot of love for retired individuals who’ve raised their children to want to open up their house and hearts again like that, especially to teenagers. I’m sure it was difficult enough to do the first time when they were younger, but to do it as sixty or seventy year olds must have been something else entirely.

While these are non-traditional families, one thing that is present in both of them is the love and respect that is generated within. Families, no matter their shape, size or style, are families. Sometimes, they are all we have. Without the support of his father, Adam might not have beeb able to go through his journey of self-discovery. Likewise, without the backing of her grandparents, Olivia might not have had the ability to choose her path in life.

It is the special structure of their families that have helped Adam and Olivia become who they are. Without their families, with all the flaws and strengths of each, the two young characters may have never met, much less learned so much from each other. Families have a way of shaping our lives, just as the families featured in My Only have shaped the lives of the characters.

Captive Heart by Phoebe Conn is a story like I’ve never read before. I have read historical romances but never one with Vikings and their conquests. This story is about a French slave girl, Celiese d’Loganville, who was taken at the age 12 from her home to become one of the many spoils of the Torgvalds and became the handmaiden for Viking Lord Raktor’s daughter Olgrethe. 5 years later she is given a chance to escape this life and marry Mylan Vandahl, another Viking who has been horribly disfigured from a hunting accident, in Olgrethe’s place. The deception works briefly for one night, her wedding night, until it all goes horribly wrong the next day. Now she is fighting for her life every day to stay alive in the hands of her enemy and the one man who has captured her heart with tender love.

For the entire book this girl could not catch a break. She is not trusted, accused of being liar and a traitor, and always being treated like a slave. At every turn she wants to be a wife and loved by Mylan.

Mylan can’t move beyond the immediate hurt and betrayal and never gives her credit for her efforts. Even though they never speak what is truly in their hearts to each other, their nights of loving are passionate and tender. Mylan sees for himself that his own father can’t be trusted and heads off to France to return Celiese to her homeland. More trouble pursues the couple again once they get there which forces the couple to do things that somehow look like betrayal!

Once you think they are finally in the clear and it all will work out for them he does the unexpected and leaves. ARGH!! It is in this time when they are apart that they both realize that they didn’t give one another time for understanding and patience to get to know the other. They know that they belong together and will actually tell the other if they are ever given that opportunity to do so. Their love scenes were beautifully written and the whole story was an adventure. The romance between Mylan and Celiese might be contentious but they complement each other and definitely belong together.

Piper's Thoughts:
This was the first Rachel Kenley book for me and my first older women, younger man story and I really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed getting to know Lena and Daniel. The book was written well and the story was believable.

Lena runs her own company that is now in trouble. She and her partner need a huge client to bring the company back around. Lena best friend and partner Michelle talks Lena into attending a gallery showing for artist Daniel Royer. Michelle tells Lena she needs a night of multiple orgasms. Lena agrees to go not knowing that she is the women behind Daniel's love of art and the reason he became an Artist. Lena just wants a night of passion with a stranger and no complications.

Daniel has known he wanted Lena since he was 15 and nothing is going to stop him from getting her, not even Lena herself. Daniel sees Lena for the first time in 12yrs and goes after her. They have a wonderful night together but when the morning comes and Daniel calls Lena by her family nickname, Daniel confesses who he is and how he knows Lena. I really liked the fact that Lena had an issue with the age difference. I liked that she was not all, hey great a hot young artist wants me wooo hooo bring on the hot sex! Lena took her time getting use to the idea and finally realizes that age does not matter. This is a great story and you will really enjoy reading Lena and Daniel's story.

No alarm. No movement. Nothing to mark his first day in a new town.

Quinn opened one eye to blinding light. Somehow it was morning already. Shit. First day in Boxer Falls and he was already late. He'd been expected at his new job at the tavern a half hour ago. Hopefully employers were laid back round these parts. Hell, he was a bartender not a brain surgeon. They'd deal.

Quinn had overslept. The big snoring body next to him in bed felt too good. The other man's coffee skin
contrasted sharply with Quinn's bone white legs.

Rick? Nick? What was the guy’s name? Vic. Victor.

Vic dozed on like a big, satisfied grizzly stretched from the headboard all the way to the foot of the mattress. Big son of a bitch, he was. African-American, but sometimes he almost looked Cuban. The sheets were streaked with lube and the sheriff had some beautiful stripes on his butt from the spanking. Quinn knew what he was doing there.

In the dark he hadn't noticed the contrast, but in the morning light, Quinn's pallor and hairlessness made him feel extra naked.

The clock said it was after nine so he was already late for the Bear & Bones breakfast customers, and gonna be later still. Maybe he could lie and claim he's thought they meant nine tonight. Nah. Late was better than lying right out of the gate.

Not a second to spare, Quinn rolled to his feet and trotted to the shower. At the sink, he scrubbed his teeth on a washcloth and took a swig of Listerine to kill his morning breath. He'd have to buy a toothbrush in town once he'd met his boss and moved into his new digs. The old couple that owned the tavern wouldn’t be there till Monday. Dot Boxer had loved his red hair. Her husband Ira had taken to his filthy jokes instantly. Still, no point in screwing this up for himself the first day. Apparently he would be working with the cook, but it was strictly mom and pop this place. The Boxers hired local help as they needed it but they needed Quinn to pick up the slack. He could do this shit in his sleep and a good thing, because it would take him an hour and a few cups of coffee before he was really on his game. No big: tending bar, and maybe waiting some tables during the day when it was slow.

The water in the shower felt hot and good. Quinn cracked his neck and let the spray pound his scalp while he scoured Ivory over his pale skin. As he washed his pubes Quinn winced; his rosy cock was literally sore. Luckily, he had a long-sleeved shirt for work in his backpack. He had pink patches where Vic's rough beard and chest hair had rubbed him hard. He smiled at those.

Quinn had never fucked a cop before. He'd have to do that again. And Vic had been very agreeable in the end. The guy was a big slab of meat, scruffy beard and medium brown skin but his balls were nearly black. Cock like a club. At the rest stop where they'd met, they'd fooled around a little at the urinals. Nothing special really, until Quinn had gotten a little nasty and pushed the big bastard to his knees.

Sproing! Once Vic's knees hit the ground, he had perked up big time, his dark shaft like iron and his hot eyes on the floor.

Asher's Thoughts:
Brightwater Blood by Shona Husk was an entertaining tale of discovery, and coming home. While it wasn't my normal cup of tea, it kept me riveted, and I had to finish it. I couldn't stop reading it.

So many times you find that books are bogged down by either too much description, or there's hardly any substantial story and its all sex. I know....I know! Most of the books that I read have a lot of sex in them, but this had only a bit of lite petting, and that was fine. The main story itself didn't need that to make it anymore sensational, or action packed. The two main characters dialogue back and forth was engaging and nerve racking all at the same time! I wanted to smack the Heroine, Dayna, at one point and make her see the truth!

All in all, I can't wait to read another book by Shona Husk.

Gennie's Thoughts:
The Rebuilding Year by Kaje Harper is wonderful! I truly did not want this book to end. Ms. Harper did a beautiful job of telling a story that is about love, family, vocation and the continuum on which all exist.

Our two main characters, John and Ryan, have considered themselves “straight” all their lives, but they don’t let that stand in the way of the feelings they begin to develop for one another. Ryan is basically embarking on a second career after an injury stops him from being able to perform his job as a firefighter. As a first year medical student, Ryan almost literally falls into the lap of the groundskeeper of the college campus, John. John rights Ryan, gets him cleaned up and sends him on his way. However, as fate would have it, the two run into each other again and strike up a friendship. Ryan ends up moving in with John because his roommate is awful, and John could use a little extra cash to make ends meet in order to pay his astronomical child support payment.

Ryan and John find that the easy companionship between them is something they both need and after some twists and turns, figure out that they “work” together. As with all things in life, it’s not a simple journey and the author does a great job pulling the reader into the story and making us care about all the characters. John’s children, especially his son, play an important part in the development of this book, but I’ll just leave it at that because I don’t want to give anything away.

Kaje Harper creates a believable story about two men who struggle to put the pieces of their lives back together after life has thrown a curve ball. Both Ryan and John would probably never have imagined that the second chance they are given would be in the arms of another man, but they are willing to travel this path and see what comes of it. The story reminds me that family is not only found in those with whom you share blood, but often we are blessed with friends we choose to invite into our lives and make family together. Both are important and so is learning to be flexible enough to roll with the punches that life gives out.

Shadow's Thoughts:
Destiny is a school teacher in love with two brothers, Drake and Kurt. Drake is an overworked lawyer, while Kurt is planning on moving from the small town where they all currently live to take a new job. Drake has commitment issues because he was unable to protect his wife from being killed. Kurt is more of a playboy, but they both end up in love with Destiny.

There were some problems with the story, including poor editing, and there was never any questioning about how the townsfolk would feel about having their children taught by a school teacher who lives with two men. The sex scenes were hot and included some BDSM elements such as light bondage and spanking.

WANTED: UNDEAD OR ALIVE is one of my favorites of the LOVE AT STAKE series.

We first meet Phineas AKA Dr. Phang AKA the LOVE Doctor AKA the Blardonnay guy in BE STILL MY VAMPIRE HEART, book 3. I have always thought of Phineas as a little like J.J. Walker from Good Times, you know the jive talking, always making a joke kinda guy, who really has hurts and fears buried underneath all that good time charlie, playboy persona. In WUOA we see a much different side of Phin, we still see all of his LMAO humor, but we see he is a worthy opponent to the bad guys, as well as his insecurities, fear, caring and tender sides. Brynley Jones is Phil's kick ass were sister. She left Wyoming to escape from her Alpha father and is now teaching at the Dragon's Nest Academy. Even though Brynley loathes vampires, she is attracted to Phin and fights that attraction with all she has.

The McKay Protection team gets word that the ever evil Corky Courrant is in Wyoming, Phineas is assigned to go hunt her down. There are two obstacles with this plan, one - he doesn't know the area well, two - who is going to protect him during his death sleep? DING, DING, DING....in comes the vampire hating Brynley, who better to be his Wyoming tour guide and protector?

As Phineas and Brynley emabark on their Wyoming adventure, Phineas can't hide the fact that he has been in love with Brynley for awhile and Brynley can't fight her attraction to Phineas any longer. The sparks fly between these two and the lovin' is HOT!!!!

Mrs. Sparks throws us a few new characters and some awesome twists and turns. I am waiting with bated breath for Howard's book, which is next =)

WUOA is a funny, romantic and emotional roller coaster, with some bad guy butt kicking thrown in. It is a MUST read for all LOVE AT STAKE fans and a recommended read for fans of comedic paranormal romances.

About The Men of Zodius series

Area 51 has proven to be more than a place from which alien rumors originate. It is there that the United States government created Super Soldiers under the top secret “Project Zodius,” soldiers they called GTECH enhanced. Alien DNA purported to be immunizations was injected into elite soldiers, and a new race was created—soldiers with unique powers. Human to the normal eye, but not quite so human anymore.

All Super Soldiers are dangerous but some are stronger and more powerful than others. All are fighters with incredible strength and speed along with unique mental powers. Rapid metabolism delivers them an amazing ability to heal from injuries, and a simple bullet is no longer deadly against muscles like steel. Taylor's Review - Hostile Takeover by Joey W. Hill

Taylor’s Thoughts:
Joey W. Hill, and her Knights of the Board Room series in particular, has been in my Mount TBR pile forever, so I jumped at the chance to review this book. I’ve heard great things about Ms. Hill’s writing, and Hostile Takeover does not disappoint. No, my kinky friends, not at all. In fact, so far this is one of my favorite books of 2012. But a warning to the faint at heart…. Ben is a sadist, and this book contains some very intense and graphic scenes. Okay, so why did I like this book so much then?

I cracked up at parts of Marcie’s plan to win Ben’s heart, but had to crank up the A/C during other parts. And Ben shows his softer side throughout the book. He might be hardcore, but he’s also charming, caring, and loyal. He’s also a great cook and a good dancer. Oh, and there’s this…

“She’d heard the rumors about his size, but if that was a partial erection, there were monsters in Japan who would run screaming.”

So, what’s not to like?

I love, love, love the snippets of letters and conversations between Marcie and Ben that begin each chapter, showing their relationship during the years Marcie was in college. Ben is Marcie’s confidante, advisor, and guardian. Some of the letters were just LOL funny, and others were so sweet I almost cried. This is one of my favorites:

“You told me any guy worth my time would always come to me with flowers and a handkerchief. One to make me smile, and the other to dry my tears, because a smart guy knows women need to cry as much as they need to laugh.”

But Ben still sees Marcie as a girl, someone to protect… especially from his darker side. Ms. Hill does a fantabulous job of showing Ben’s reluctance to accept Marcie as a sexually mature woman, and of showing Marcie’s absolute certainty and determination that she and Ben are meant to be together. And their journey is one wild ride! If you don’t have any qualms about the BDSM aspects of the book, this is a highly recommended read.

The only bad news? Poor DiDi will lose a reviewer for a couple of weeks while I go back to read the rest of the series. Yes, it’s that good!

Ava's Thoughts:
This was a laugh out loud kind of story...which was unusual for me, but really fun. As I read along I felt very much like I was watching a romantic comedy akin to Can’t Buy Me Love, or maybe Just Go With It. The premise is a familiar one, where Valerie is looking to hire a man to fill in as her imaginary boyfriend for a class reunion. Too bad for her she’s already embellished her story to the point of needing to find a needle in haystack in very short order. She turns to a speed dating service, to see if she can find the Mr. Right she’s told her family about.

Noah, immediately fits the visual inspection and she snaps him up, hoping she can pull off the charade. Only Noah, comes with a hefty amount of his own baggage to sort through.

I gotta say, many of the plot lines are far fetched and over the top, but for me it worked for the story. If you go into this one expecting a major love story you’ll be disappointed. But if you’re looking for something, sexy, and funny, and enough mayhem to keep it interesting, I think you’ll enjoy it. ~Ava

Have you ever wondered what happens when you cross a viking with a vampire and then turn him into an angel? Sandra Hill does just that in her sexy new story Kiss of Pride. Vikur Sigurdsson is one of seven Norsemen brothers that has been shamed by God after being overly arrogant, bloodthirsty and for worshipping false Gods rather than He. Each of the vikings committed one of the seven deadly sins and as a result the entire viking race is slowly lead to extinction with the seven brothers condemed to Hell. Their only saving grace was a plea from the Archangel Michael, who asked that instead of condemning the brothers that they be given seven hundred years to do good or become satan's newest playthings. The catch? God turned them into vampire angels "Vangels" that feed off of sinners in order to help them rid bad blood and choose to repent. There job is now to fight of Lucifer's minions known as Lucipires (Lucifer's Vampires) who infect potential sinners with their poison in order to inhibit their good judgement and lead them to temptation.

Alex Kelly is a reporter on the verge of making a very big decision. After losing her husband and young daughter to a murderous drug cartel, she is ready for revenge. When an assignment comes in for her to do a story on a mysterious castle in Transylvania, Pennsylvania, she heads out for her story and walks into a whole new world that was not what she expected. The small city of Transylvania is a tourist town filled with vampire themed restaurants, clubs, book stores and anything else a fangbanger wannabe could dream of. When Alex finds her way to the mysterious castle, she is greeted by Vikur and immediately finds herself enthralled and bitten by this handsome, oddly dressed man who happens to have fangs. But Vikur is after something much more than Alex's blood. It is her soul he wants to save. When he realizes that Alex has tainted blood, he knows she must be saved before committing an unforgivable sin. The question is, can he do so without committing any sins of his own. When the time comes to determine if Vikur can prove himself worthy, he must decide if he can deal with saving a life and living in torture, or saving himself and continuing to covet his vanity and the woman he loves.

I must admit that this is my very first viking romance and I was not disappointed. Sandra Hill did her research and all of the handsome Norseman throughout the story speak as though they are from the Viking era. I melt every time I hear the words heartling, dearling and any other "ling" from the mouths of those handsome hunks and love how decietfully innocent they seem. The characters are well developed and the relationships build throughout the story allowing readers to gain a better understanding of each one. Reading how the vikings adapt to the times, and how difficult it is for some of them to get accustomed to modern technology proves to be amusing. What I find even more interesting is that the vangels must stay celibate in order to finish their time serving and if they do not, they must serve more years. It is almost like reading about a virgin that will do anything but have sex. Hence, when the moment finally does happen, it is steamy and fun due to some of the accomodations that must be made. With some amazing "almost sex" as well as makeout sessions that will remind you of those teenage years trying not to get caught by your parents, this is a fantastic read. I will be in search of more vivacious viking tales from this author from this day forward.

Rhayne's Thoughts:
Sweet Restraint is a sweet read! This is a follow up book to Sweet Temptation.

Savannah is a determined, motivated strong willed woman. Once a decision is made, she sticks to it. She made a choice that she would stay a virgin until marriage. This does not mean there aren’t any really hot sexy moments in this book, there are. It simply means the intimacy is just a little more inventive. I like that aspect. It’s different from other books out there. I think with the sexual build up between both Gavin and Savannah, it makes their first time together much more explosive.

Gavin is not a believer in love at first sight or fate. His Dad and Step-mother have not been great role models in the kid, white picket fence, love and marriage scenario. Once he allows Savannah to be in his life everything he has always said he wanted is questioned. He knows that he can’t give his love to her, but he does want her in his life. He asks her to marry him as part of a business arrangement. They both want children and a family. In his mind it’s perfect.

As the passion between these two ignite. It becomes much more difficult for them to convince themselves that there are no feeling involved in their relationship.

They learn that they can’t base their happiness and their future on other people’s bad choices from the past. They learn that communication and trust is vital in a marriage. They learn that true love does exist.

I thought the story line at times was a little unbelievable. Just remember that this is a book about fate, love, and proof that there can be that magical spark between two strangers that unite them instantly. Ms. Dale did a great job writing a unique and creative erotic story that is certainly worth a read.

Asher's Thoughts:
Surrender to Love by Sascha Illyvich was an interesting read. It showed the insecurities of a woman closed off from the world, and how she was able to start to break from her shell, with the help of a man. But the under lying tone was that it was all about her, it was her decision, her choice to make on whether she opened herself to new experiences or whether she would remain static.

Overall not a bad book, and I can't wait to read more by this author!

DiDi's Thoughts:
This is the second book of Diane Kelly's Death and Taxes series. I enjoyed Death, Taxes, and a French Manicure, I REALLY enjoyed Death, Taxes and a Skinny No-Whip Latte. I could not put it down and laughed throughout the entire book.

Tara is back, this time in action packed investigation to stop not only a tax cheat, but a murdering, money launderer. Tara and her partner Eddie take on Marcos Mendoza and it almost costs one of them their life and family and the other their relationship. Extra drama comes in due to a couple of new characters that Ms. Kelly has introduced, who may just cause trouble in paradise between Tara and her boyfriend Brett.

Ms. Kelly has created an exciting, fun new mystery series with quirky characters and a twist, I mean who would have ever guessed IRS investigators could be so cool! You can't help but love Tara's, tough talking, polyester clad, bee-hive wearing boss, Lu.

I admit....I am addicted to Tara Holloway and the entire zany supporting cast of the Death and Taxes series. Tara is a gun toting, quick witted, kick ass heroine who goes after the bad guys with all she's got. Death, Taxes, and a Skinny No-Whip Latte is a fast paced, funny, mystery with a little bit of romance in the background.

If you like mysteries with comedy and a continuing relationship between the H/h, I strongly recommend Diane Kelly's Death and Taxes series.

I cannot wait for the release of Death, Taxes, and Extra-Hold Hairspray on 7/1/12!

And yet, they can’t resist each other, especially once her ambitious news anchor assigns her the “Thanksgiving with the Firefighters” news special. Add in her grandmother’s matchmaking and the combined efforts of Captain Brody’s crew…can Brody help being the first bachelor to succumb to love, and the crazy rollercoaster ride of the Curse?

The Perfect Firefighter Romance!

The Fireman Who Loved Me is an intense page turner. Melissa and Brody are thrown together after her grandmother tries her hand at getting Melissa hooked up and married off. These two characters are the perfect example of opposites attract. They argue and fight all through the first date but as it draws to an end and he walks her to the door, sparks and flames ignite. They may not have a lot in common in their lives, but their bodies sure do tell a different story anytime they are close to each other.

The relationship with these two takes off and you can’t help but to admire their love story. But as quickly as things heat up for them, they abruptly come to a halt when both exes come back into the picture.

This book is full of feeling and passion. My emotions were all over the place at times. I laughed and cursed and I even shed some tears a time or two.

There is a great cast of characters. Grandma Nellie is just a nest of trouble and adds great humor. The story of Melissa’s father makes you understand the importance of overcoming addiction and forgiveness. You get to watch Melissa grow and develop into a strong, independent woman. The firefighters in this book were great guys and easy to adore.

This is not just a book about Melissa and Brody. There are lots of characters and they each have their own agenda and story. The way it entangles and weaves through the underlying love story is beautifully done.
My only drawback was a storyline of an abused boy. Melissa was working a news story about him and numerous times commented that she had completely forgotten about him. I’m not sure how one forgets about a child being abused. In no way does this affect the story line of the book; it was just an issue for me.

From start to finish Ms. Bernard wrote a fast paced tale of excitement and heat. There are hints about follow up stories for these sexy fireman…I can’t wait to read more.

Poor Anne has fallen victim to a divorce caused by a cheating husband who left her alone and dreading her wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day. Now that the divorce is final and Anne is ready for a break, she takes some much needed time off and heads for The Violet House, a bed and breakfast owned by Jack, a widower who was friends with her ex but had always been kind to her. When she arrives at the house for a much needed vacation, she is immediately taken by the sudden attraction to Jack. There is just one conflict, Jack is a Dom. He had a strong Master sub relationship with his wife Penny and Anne worries that it is too soon after her divorce and Jack's loss, to get involved in a relationship that could possibly be a rebound.

When Anne's ex suddenly shows up at the bed and breakfast with his very pregnant girlfriend, Jack is quick to take control of the situation to get rid of them and gives Anne a taste of his dominant side. Anne quickly realizes that she is turned on by his controlling nature admits her curiosity to Jack. Learning to give in to her submissive side is something Anne is curious about and perhaps Jack is just the Dom to show her how.

I really enjoyed this book and am always fascinated by the power and trust involved in a Ds relationship. Sue Lyndon shows the power and passion Jack has for his lifestyle and how that translates to love for a woman who can submit. The commands from Jack had me wanting to drop to my knees and say yes Sir everytime I read a new scene. My only wish is that there was more. It is a short read and I find myself wanting more details about what happens next and would love Sue to elaborate on everything that happens on Sue's anniversary. Regardless of length, this story was a hot BDSM read and it left me wanting more.

4 stars and a wish that there is more to come!
