Hello Katie!!  Welcome to Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews!!

1. Who influenced or encouraged you to write, and when? All of the ladies at HDP! But I would have to say that my biggest champion is Kat Marshall. She pushes me along even when I’ve got nothing rattling around in my head!
2. If you woke up tomorrow, and your genre no longer existed, what would you write? Well my main genre is LGBT, so I’d have to go with Paranormal I guess. Though it might be a bit more along the lines of old school, scary vampires and blood lusting werewolves.
3. Are you ever embarrassed by the intimate scenes you write?  Do others assume you do everything your characters do, or offer tips? I get embarrassed when I do an actual face-to-face conversation with someone about what I write. And I’ve never had anyone give me tips, but I have had people ask me to write more about Anthony and Michael from my Bath Interrupted/Sleep Interrupted book.
4. What can you tell us about Diary of a Lesbian Nymphomaniac?  I started writing Diary of a Lesbian Nymphomaniac because for a short while, I had this ADHD writing thing happening. I was in a rut and could only write for short stints, but I still needed to write and get all of the stuff out of my head. And then the idea was born. It’s exactly how it sounds. Each chapter is a diary entry and tells of some hot hook up she had the night before. In great detail, of course. There is a series planned and at least two more books coming!
5. What’s next for you? More writing and formatting!
6. What’s your favorite song and why? Wow. Only one song? Man, that’s tough! Um… Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode. It takes me back to a different time in my life.
7. Where would you go in a time machine? Back in time to see Beethoven conduct live in a theater. I love classical music and find it very soothing. To be able to sit and watch him… That would be awesome.
8. We all have them… What is your guilty pleasure? Girl Scout Cookies. Samoas to be exact. I spent almost 200 dollars on Girl Scout cookies this last cookie season.

New author A.L. Zaun has come out with her debut novel The Do Over with flying colors, with a new twist on book boyfriends, kindle addictions and the meaning of interventions. I have to say that I was able to totally relate as well as many of you that will read this book. I absolutely loved how she made it okay to be Team Kindle but for those that couldn’t understand the book obsession well they would just never get it anyway.

Wrapping herself up in her romance novels even more after a devastating break is easier than getting hurt according to Danielle, Dani, yet when her friends stage an intervention to take away her Kindle Dani is having none of that! When she meets fireman Liam Lucas the sparks go off instantly between the two of them but she questions herself instantly is it her imagination from all the books or are these real feelings.

The attraction to Dani was immediate for Liam he hadn’t felt this way about a woman in over five years. He loved her smile, her passion about her books; everything about her, he was falling fast and furious. He knew that she had been hurt and hurt badly and he wanted to make sure that she knew he wasn’t leaving her, ever.

Rick Marin alphahole extraordinaire, man whore of the first order, arrogant and thought he was above reproach also wealth, gorgeous and new it. After breaking Dani’s heart to pieces two years before when Rick sees her again he knows he wants her back even if she is with someone else. He knows she loved him once and will stop at nothing to get her back.

I loved how this book was written we get all three POV’s which I have to say is EPIC!! Liam is a total Loveable HOTTIE there is nothing about that fireman that you can find wrong. Rick what I can say I Hate that I Loved him!!! He is a smart ass yet has his moments. We have the ultimate Good Boy vs. Bad Boy going on. It was all written and played out so well. Each characters story even the secondary ones were written with style and grace, humility, humor and with a lot of emotion. I have to say for a new author I found little to no flaws with the writing or the editing. If you do well then, my bad. I just didn’t and I read it twice.

Congratulations on a job well done and for a first novel I have to say it wasn’t just good but it was great!

I loved these three characters and thoroughly enjoyed every page. ~ Daniella, Guilty Pleasures

Description:
Arriving in Edinburgh from her home on a remote Scottish island, Mhairi McLeod is looking for a job rather than adventure. She finds both with bisexual American businessmen Cameron Lindsay and Roberto Alossi. Although lovers, for a while now Cam and Rob have felt there was something missing in their lives. Mhairi’s sweet smile and luscious curves, instantly light a fire in both men. Rob is keen to persuade her into their bed straight away but Cam is more cautious. After all, Mhairi’s conventional upbringing in a close knit community is unlikely to have prepared her for the kind of relationship they have in mind.

Although the hot Americans are up front about their relationship, Mhairi isn’t one hundred percent sure what ‘bi,’ actually means. She begins to obsess about what the two men do in bed and when she gets the chance to secretly watch them make love, she cannot resist. It is unbelievably hot and once they eventually coax her into their bed, the sex is spectacular.

When they tell her how they feel about her she is faced with a dilemma. A husband and family have always been her dream but can she cope with her dream in duplicate? And will she ever be able to introduce her grooms to her community or will marriage to the men she loves, leave her ostracized?

This was a fun short book to read. A wonderful escape from reality for a small bit. Mhairi is Brit who usually speaks before she thinks (not the greatest quality to have during a job interview with two wealthy, influencial Americans who are commited to with eachother and are looking for their third – which happens to be her. Cam and Rob are sweet, hunky men who take Mhairi with all her foibles and love her immediately, and without hesitation.

I am used to reading romance that has huge amounts of action, adventure or suspense and while I truly love reading those books sometimes a person needs an escape book (whether short or long) that has nothing to do with that. This book was a breath of fresh air when I needed something different for a change.

I loved these three characters and thoroughly enjoyed every page. I will be looking for more Catelyn Cash books to have on hand for some total escapism!!! Thank you Catelyn for being my glass of wine and bubble bath to escape to!

The fact that we got to see the whole family together made this book extra special and I loved watching the family dynamics change with all the new women running around. ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

I have completely enjoyed this series by Melissa Schroeder. The Santini men have all proven to be men of honor, men of strength, and men who when together can act like little boys! While I have loved watching each meet and fall in love, I have to admit some of my favorite scenes in each book has been when they are all together. It’s entertaining and interesting to watch them interact with each other and especially when Mama (Joey) Santini is around. As much as I love her sons, I have to say she is a character that stands out and I so hope Melissa has plans to one day write the story of how she met Stewart.

I always enjoy when an unrequited love is finally realized. There is something special about this type of match up and when both parties had feelings for years, it really sets the tone for the story. Vincente has been in love with the same woman since high school. Problem is she was his best friend’s girlfriend and then his wife. It’s not like he sat back and pined for her for years but he never really felt a strong connection with any other woman. She’s back in town now and divorced not to mention widowed and he’s decided it’s finally time to make a move.

Julianna Andrews has been through a lot since the last time she saw Vince and after “the kiss”(the one he gave her the day of her wedding rehearsal) and she’s not sure she should see him. One thing she knows; she doesn’t have time for a man and she doesn’t want to get married again something she knows Vince will eventually want. However, she’s forgotten how convincing a Santini man can be when he wants something and right now Vince wants her.
It was easy to like both of these characters. The fact that Vince has been carrying a torch for this woman for years is very telling and while he moved at breakneck speed once he re-entered her life I can understand it because he’s waited a long time. The problem is he doesn’t realize what Jules has been through emotionally or physically and it takes her a little while to catch up. Jesse (MJ’s brother from book 1) makes an appearance as someone who has been there for Jules and makes sure Vince knows under no uncertain terms not to mess with her affections.

One thing I have appreciated about this series of novellas is that we get the background on the characters. They are well developed and we have the necessary information to understand where the characters are coming from and where they are headed. Would I have liked longer stories? You betcha, but that’s just because I’m greedy!

I went into this book a little sad knowing this was the last book in the series but prior to writing my review Melissa told me there will be an additional book called A Santini Christmas. I’m excited to see what that book will entail and hope that maybe we’ll see more of the elder Santini’s in that one. I very much enjoy Vincente and felt it was a good ending to this series. The fact that we got to see the whole family together made it special and I loved watching the family dynamics change with all the new women running around. Nicely done!

They really didn’t know they were missing out on anything until Jack shows up and throws one hell of a curve ball in their happily ever after. How can one person come into their lives and give them both what they crave and need? How can a perfectly happy couple need more than what they currently have? How can they include a third and not lose the relationship and trust they have with each other? There lies the questions on the reader’s mind. Fortunately the intriguing answers are delivered in blazing, intense, passionate moments between the pages.

Spencer has been attracted to men in the past, but he shut that side of his life down when he got serious with Rory. Deep down he desires more, but he is not going to lose what he has with her to get it. Rory needs to be dominated. She likes to give up all the control. She wants to let go completely and be at the mercy of someone else. Jack can give both of them exactly what they crave and they can give him the one thing he has never had…acceptance and love.

Their relationship is not easy, it’s not conventional, but it is worth fighting for. I loved their unique story. It’s not always easy to balance a ménage book, but it was done perfectly here. The characters all had their own individual struggles that were portrayed honestly. The emotion and passion these people shared flowed right off the pages and stayed with you throughout the story. Alyssa knows how to write blazing sex scenes. It’s the kind that leaves you sweaty and completely satisfied. She portrays not only the actual act, but they intense passionate emotions of her characters in every situation. Her attention to detail is impeccable. Whether she is describing a mountain climbing scene, a dirty wet subway tunnel, or sultry sex on the beach, she is a master and will forever hold a place on my “must read” shelf.

Somewhere beneath consciousness she heard the men’s voices bouncing back and forth, seeming like a serenade of bass surrounding her. She drifted in and out of sleep on the lounger, matching voice to face and face to body…then body to body.
“Huh, what?” Rory jumped at the sudden cold on her chest.
“Babe, you spilled some of your drink,” Spencer said, reaching over with Jack’s beach towel. “What was that you gave my girlfriend, Jack?”
Rory helped him dab at the rosy-colored liquid splashed across her collarbone and staining the top of her sundress. Her eye caught Jack’s over Spencer’s shoulder.
“Sex on the Beach.” Jack blushed. “Guess it was kind of strong.”
Spencer’s gaze hadn’t left her. Mild concern knitted his brow and Rory smiled back at him. “It was good.”
“Looks like it,” he said with a tap to her nose, looking satisfied that she was okay—looking also mildly entertained by the double entendre.
“Dinner will be ready in a few. Thought we’d make a fire and eat picnic-style on the beach.”
“I could start to complain that you’re going to too much trouble—” Rory started.
“But I’d have to find a way to banish that idea from your head,” Jack interrupted. “It’s my pleasure, really. I’m returning the favor to you guys for taking me in.” He held up his hand, oddly close to Spencer’s parted lips. “And I know I don’t have to. I want to.”
Rory flashed her eyes at Spencer. Returning the favor? Was that all there was to it?
With flashlights in hand for later, they all helped bring the party down to the well-used fire pit on the beach. Rory wondered how many charred beer caps lay at the bottom of it and imagined Jack sitting with his thoughts, tossing them into the flames. He placed a few strategic pieces of driftwood and sea grass and lit a match to set a warming glow upon them in the night air.
The shish kebabs of chicken and shrimp with the chili and lime marinade Jack had whipped up were amazing—not to mention his mixology skills. Rory finished off her second cocktail with the last of her meal.
“More Sex on the Beach, please.” She giggled, waving her plastic cup in the air.
“Oh man, she is toasted,” Spencer said, easing his hand onto her knee. “Maybe I should have some too.”
Rory liked the way Jack licked his lips when Spencer said that. She felt like she could read his mind, see the flash of something thick and hot pass his face in the firelight. He sucked in a slow breath and stretched the muscles in his neck with a bit of exaggeration. “I’ll be right back with a pitcher.”
Somewhere under the haze of alcohol Rory knew exactly what she hoped would happen if they all got drunk enough. They’d all have to be deaf, dumb, and blind not to notice the energy filling the air around them, bouncing from one to the other.
She wouldn’t have called it a suspicion. That would have implied guilt, and there was nothing guilty about admitting desire as far as she was concerned. Still, it had been there, sleepily coursing beneath her happy relationship for months now. Spencer was also attracted to men. Even if neither of them knew what to do with that fact, it was there, staring both of them in the face in low-hung board shorts and holding a pitcher of Sex on the Beach.
Jack dropped to his knees on the blanket and filled her cup. With her gaze darting from Jack to Spencer, she took a heavy gulp. Firelight danced over all of them in the dark, while the waves crashed on the shore just feet away. Everything else was still around them, hugging the moment with anticipation of what she was going to do about it.
“We look like pagans out here,” Rory whispered.
“At least one of us isn’t just pretending,” Jack responded, reaching over her to hand Spencer his cocktail.
“What? You think we don’t get a little wild?” Spencer said and took a sip.
Jack paused as if contemplating his next words.
The silence called out to be filled. Rory swallowed another mouthful of liquid courage and went for it. “Maybe sometime we’ll show you just how wild we can get.”
Jack nodded, with a guarded smile on his lips. “I’d love to see that.”
Heat flushed Rory’s entire body and she turned to search out a reaction on Spencer’s face since he’d said nothing in response. Tucked into the corner of his mouth was the sexiest smirk she’d ever seen him wear. Then Spencer reached behind her head and pulled her into a searing kiss.
Rory lost her breath within the thunder of her pounding heart. Was she about to do this? Really? And the truth whispered to her from behind the fuzzy cloud of inebriation: You want this. She wanted to show Jack how perfect they were together, to show him what an amazing lover Spencer was. But also she wanted to find out how another man could possibly fit into their pretty little picture, because at her core she knew keeping his desires in the closet was eating Spencer alive.
Spencer set her mouth free and stared into Rory’s eyes. If she pushed, he would run. There wasn’t a doubt in her mind about that. One step at a time, and a weekend of show-and-tell with Jack seemed like a good start. It all made perfect sense within the swirling logic of one-hundred-proof rum.
“Rory doesn’t mind if you watch.” Spencer didn’t look away from her, though he was talking to Jack. Rory guessed he was probably talking to her too. He flicked his tongue against her top lip. “Do you, baby?”
Maybe she knew his secrets, but he had all of hers tucked into his pocket as well. She wasn’t the type to dance on top of tables and flash the crowd her thong. Nothing about being the center of that kind of attention appealed to her in the least. But offering an intimate spectacle in the open air of the firelit beach for a man who already had a hold over both of them—yes, that was exactly the right kind of audience.
Her gaze flitted toward Jack, just to check if he was at all embarrassed by the sudden turn of events. He lay on his side, his eyes hooded yet direct. His cup rested on his lip, as if forgotten there, and his tongue danced absently on the rim.
“Do it.” It was all he said—direct and forceful in his tone. They were only two small words, but the weight he placed upon them was exactly what she needed to hear.
Her back straightened with a tingling chill of excitement on her skin. She turned herself around to face Jack and hitched her dress up so that she could straddle Spencer, careful not to jostle his healing ankle.
Jack had a front and center view. She could catch his expression in the random flickers of firelight. Rolling her hips on top of Spencer, she stared at Jack as he stared back. A moan erupted from her lips at the sight of him watching her so intently. Her pussy grew more slippery under her panties as they raked across Spencer’s cargo shorts. So, this is a little twist on “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”. I don’t know what’s happening but books about Vegas and teachers really seem to be hitting the book stands big this year. I guess it’s going to be a hot and steamy summer after all! Crystal Jordan took a harmless vacation and turned it into a week of indulgence, dreams come true and and some wildly erotic sex.

Meg is a bookworm. Stays home during Spring Break, pampers her depressed dog, has a few glasses of wine and winds down with a good book. She definitely isn’t going to go to Vegas with the rest of the teachers. She doesn’t need the companionship and she sure as hell isn’t going with Finn coming along on the trip. One botched teacher/teacher relationship at her school is enough for her. Especially when she was a catalyst in the whole sordid affair.

Finn just wants to get some time alone with Meg. He knows he could convince her to give him a chance. Not all relationships are going to end bad and he does not have a reputation as a “love ‘em and leave ‘em” type. He knows that there is more to Meg than meets the eye and he really wants to find out what that more is. Well, the lust he has for her is also a huge reason why he wants to spend time with her too.

Finn finally convinces Meg to spend the week with him in Vegas, give him a shot, get to know him. She agrees to one week with him but everything is over when they leave Vegas. Now, he has to find out what really has her spooked and get her to fall for him as hard as he is falling for her.

What was refreshing about “Vegas Vacation”? Well, it was nice to see the guy squirming here. Finn fell for Meg hard and he was working to get her to open up to him and give them a chance. It’s usually the other way around – where the guy is pushing the girl away because of commitment issues. Meg is a hard sell throughout the book. She knows she could fall in love with Finn but her hard and fast rule is no relationship with a co-worker. She really has to rethink her values when she returns home and realizes just how hard she fell for Finn and that she really needs to give him a chance.

I really enjoyed reading “Vegas Vacation”. It was a light, fun read. The story moved along without a lot of “fillers”. The sex scenes were very well written, hot, sexy and fun! A perfect book for a Saturday afternoon, sitting by the pool or on the beach and fantasizing about a hot gym teacher and the love of his life. If gym teachers were this hot when I was in school, I may have taken more interest in “floor exercises”.

I’ve read this series from the start and I’ve always appreciated the covers on the books, but damn when I saw this one on the publisher’s website over the weekend it made me stop.  I can’t help but admire the absolute look of surrender on the female model’s face.  The possessive way both men are looking at her and holding her make me think this is going to be one of the best books yet.  The thumb hooked between her breasts and the hand holding her head steady…HOT!!  And let’s face it, the two male models aren’t hard on the eyes and I have to admit I’m loving the longish hair on the blond one mainly because I can envision wrapping it around my hand and pulling it.  Since I haven’t read the book, I can’t tell you if the models are a good representation of the characters but I’m going to go out on a limb and say I know I’ll be thinking this is what they look like when I read it.  I give this cover artist and the publisher an A for this cover; it made me stop to look and it makes me want to buy and read this book.  In that respect, I think it’s a job well done!

I hope by now everyone has snagged their copy of Cassi Carver’s Slayer’s Kiss. I love this series. I got lucky when I saw this Samhain title last year, and I’ve been a big Cassi Carver fan ever since. The third book in the series is set mostly on Mercury Island and outside of Kara Reed’s earthly home in Gaslamp.

Lots of action and plot development in this edition. I was thrilled Kara got to spend lots of quality time with Gavin. I’d been rooting for him to have a chance at happiness since the first story. Kara exhibits lots of emotional growth and is learning about her new abilities and becoming more acquainted with her breed. Because Kara spent the first part of her life thinking she’s a very weak witch, it’s been entertaining to see her come into her own with the Demiare. All the action and sexy hunks with wings are just an added bonus!

I stumbled on Disastrous last year and absolutely fell in love with the story and the author. I’ve been keeping my eye out for Cautious and when I finally got the chance to read it I was beyond stoked!

Ms. Montes wrote the perfect conclusion to the story of Marcus and Mia’s relationship with Cautious. She couldn’t have possibly done a better job.
This book contained the perfect combination of suspense, steamy love scenes, and romance.

Picking up where she left off in Disastrous we get to see the ups and downs of their tumultuous relationship, but this time we get the ending tied up in a perfect bow. I’ve read a lot of books lately where I’ve only liked one of the lead characters but I fell in love with both Mia and Marcus in Disastrous and stayed that way all through Cautious.

I can’t wait to see what E.L. Montes has in store for us next and I’m confident when I say, based on her past work, anything she produces with be brilliant!

There are some authors out there that never cease to amaze me and Vivian Arend is one of them. Authors who can continue to put out book after book in a series and keep you wanting more are special and with Viv’s latest, Rocky Mountain Rebel she not only makes me want more, she has me more intrigued than ever. While the plot line is very similar to the last release, this book is totally different and extremely special. I will admit I was a little surprised Vivian chose to focus on Joel (the youngest and one of the twins) than Travis who I’m very intrigued by and even more so now after this book. However, I am so pleased with this story that I got over it and I’ll even go as far as to say this is my favorite in the series to date.

Vicki Hansol has had to live with her family’s reputation all her life. A mother and sister who bed and use men, everyone assumes Vicki is just like them. Little do they know that is so far from the truth. On her own since she was 16, Vicki has had a tough life and sometimes her temper gets the best of her. When she is offered a job that will get her out of town she’s excited but she needs help to make her dream come true so she turns to someone she knows can help her.

Joel Coleman has pretty much lived in his brothers’ shadows his entire life. While he’s been content to go with the flow lately he’s been making some changes. First no more threesomes with his twin, Jesse and secondly, less partying with a rowdy crowd and more family time. When he witnesses Vicki taking out a jerk, he’s more intrigued than ever but when she asks for help he decides he’s a lucky man.

Watching Joel and Vicki working together towards a few common goals was fun. Joel’s lessons to help Vicki with her horse phobia were entertaining and interesting but his “rewards” were even better. I loved watching these two get to know each other and Vicki discovering her new found sexuality. Vicki is so spunky and outspoken one minute, but timid and shy the next; she’s such a contradiction but that just makes her even more endearing. Joel exhibits such patience, something you often don’t see in someone his age. I love how concerned he is for Vicki and how he comes to realize how easy his life has been. His absolute need to protect her is stuff fairytales are made of. While it was enjoyable watching the ever changing relationship between these two, watching Vicki be taken in, accepted, and loved by the huge Coleman clan really had me choked up.

These two take foreplay to a new level and despite Vicki’s inexperience they leave no surface untouched once they embark on their sexual journey. The fact that they are caught in a compromising position by more than one of the Coleman clan on more than one occasion should tell you they find it hard to keep their hands, lips, and other body parts to themselves!

This story is different because there really isn’t a big “blow up” between this couple. That’s not to say they don’t have some issues they have to resolve or that everything is perfect but honestly, they are a pretty easy going couple. Maybe that stems from the fact that neither of them ever considered them a “real” couple despite their growing feelings for one another. There are several outside issues they have to deal with as a couple but in doing so that only makes their bond stronger. Once again, I want to state that Gabe Coleman truly is an angel and he proves it again when he gives Joel some very good advice. I truly adore that man!

This story is about forgiveness, learning to believe in yourself and others, and being thankful for what you have while understanding that others aren’t as lucky as you. It’s about letting go and acceptance, but most of all it’s about family. Rocky Mountain Rebel is a wonderful addition to an already fantastic series. With each book, I fall more in love with the Coleman clan and with Vivian Arend. She is one talented author and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the next Coleman who falls!
