Sarina manages to tell a wonderful love story steeped with themes and challenges that are both realistic and fulfilling. I couldn’t put it down, read straight through in one sitting and I NEVER get to do that! I even want a billionaire like Nate for my own… go figure. ~ Ava, Guilty Pleasures
A sexy new standalone from USA Today bestseller Sarina Bowen.
You’d think a billion dollars, a professional hockey team and a six-bedroom mansion on the Promenade would satisfy a guy. You’d be wrong.
For seven years Rebecca has brightened my office with her wit and her smile. She manages both my hockey team and my sanity. I don’t know when I started waking in the night, craving her. All I know is that one whiff of her perfume ruins my concentration. And her laugh makes me hard.
When Rebecca gets hurt, I step in to help. It’s what friends do. But what friends don’t do is rip off each others’ clothes for a single, wild night together.
Now she’s avoiding me. She says we’re too different, and it can never happen again. So why can’t we keep our hands off each other?
Do you fall in with your favorite sub-genres and tropes? I do. I have few scenarios and heroes that really aren’t my favorite. These past two weeks though Sarina Bowen made a liar out of me; TWICE. First with MAN CARD, and now with BROOKLYNAIRE. I don’t fall for the billionaire(or to a lesser degree the metrosexual, manscapin’) heroes! GAH! First of all this book, while an excellent standalone features characters from her Brooklyn Bruisers series, and many of the timeline events in the last two books overlap. As a reader I am in awe of all the planning that had to go into showing several scenes from about 6 POV’s. She’s the bomb! That said we’ve only gotten the tip of iceberg with Nate and Becca, and I have been eager to unravel their story forever.
Becca’s head injury and her recovery is a central theme in this story. So much of Nate’s down to earth attitude is shown in the flashbacks to his early days of building a tele-communications and media empire with Becca’s easy ways right by his side. Origins of the crush have been revealed and show their bond has developed slowly for years. In some ways the PC relationship is a result of following the rules, and not the heart you know? This one touches on office romance, and difficult time women can have if they consider sleeping with the boss. As always Sarina manages to tell a wonderful love story steeped with themes and challenges that are both realistic and fulfilling. I couldn’t put it down, read straight through in one sitting and I NEVER get to do that! I even want a billionaire like Nate for my own… go figure. I encourage you to get this one, and if you haven’t already, check out the Brooklyn Bruisers series too!
