Kitty’s Review – Pulled Under (Walker Security #2) by Lisa Renee Jones

Lisa Renee Jones just Pulled me Under with this story. She’s an author that knows how to write compelling, complex characters and storylines. Romantic Suspense at its finest. ~ Kitty, Guilty Pleasures

Blurb:
He is blond, tattooed, and dangerous. She’s as beautiful as she is mysterious and could be his destruction…
Asher wasn’t always a member of the elite Walker Security team, he was a billionaire’s son, who rebelled against his father’s controlling hand, and ended up in New York City’s underground of drugs, rock n roll, and danger. But that is long behind him, and while his tattoos and long blond hair remain, he’s now a chameleon, far more comfortable in a suit and tie than a leather jacket.

Or so he likes to tell himself.

But now Walker Security needs him back inside the underground club scene for a police case they’re working. Women are dying, murdered, and the clock is ticking until another victim is claimed. When Asher is pulled back into this toxic world he meets Sierra, who is as beautiful as she is mysterious. A woman who calls to a darker side of him, long suppressed, unleashing it in what becomes wicked hot passion and obsession. But Sierra has a secret, one that leads her, and Asher, to a dangerous place, and game, with dangerous players, and the game is about life or death.

Like usual, Lisa Renee Jones just Pulled me Under with this story. I really didn’t put it down once I started reading it. It is amazingly written by an author who knows how to write compelling, complex characters and story lines. Her women are fierce and strong. Her men are alpha males until they fall in love and then they are uber-alpha. And, at no time, does the story falter or slow down. She writes action packed, romantic, erotic stories that will keep you invested in the story.

Asher was just as I described him. He was a man that made his own path in the world, despite his father. He was never a one-woman man until he set eyes on Sierra. As his heart tilted on its axis, his life became more and more complicated until the only thing that he could concentrate on was this beautiful woman and the cases they are working. First and foremost is to protect Sierra from her past and get her to trust him with her secrets.

Sierra can’t stop running from a man she refers to as “The Beast”. She can’t let anyone know the secrets that she has until she can afford to go where He can’t find her. People she thought she could trust turned out to be in His pocket. Now, there is Asher. One night with him and she has never felt safer or secure. But, can she trust him. As he brings her into his inner circle at Walker Security, she knows that she’s found people who she can depend on but, her one fear is that he can get to them and kill them just as easy as he planned her death. It takes the village to assure her that they are not going to die … the only ones that are leaving this world are The Beast and Ju Ju. She may be on both of these men’s radar but Asher, Luke, Royce and Blake, along with a host of other Walker Security and Seal Team 6 members will stop at nothing to bring them down.

Pulled Under was an intricate story that will have you waiting to see just who will get to Sierra first. With two cases going simultaneously with the same woman being the target, you can’t help but to turn page after page to see how this will end.

I can sincerely say that Lisa Renee Jones really wrote a winner with Pulled Under. It amazed me how she wrote two major storylines in one book and cohesively brought them together. She is probably one of the best romantic suspense authors I have read and I know, once I start I can’t stop reading the story that she has weaved. She doesn’t stop at the end of the story, either … she gives you a beautiful Epilogue that ties everything together.

If you enjoy Romantic Suspense, pick up any of Ms. Jones’ stories. From the Inside Out Series to the Tall, Dark and Deadly Series to the Dirty Money series … you will not be disappointed. But, be prepared to spend a lot of time on your E-reader or with a book in your hand because, once you start, you will not be able to put them down until you finish.

EXCERPT

I kiss her, God I kiss her right here in the back corner of a store between racks of clothes. I drink this woman in, and press my tongue to hers, with the slow, savoring of her taste that I have hungered for again, every moment, since I last kissed her. “You have me now,” I repeat.
“That was unfair,” she whispers breathlessly. “My hands are full.”
“Feel free to drop the bags and touch me, sweetheart. I won’t complain.”
And she does. She drops the bags and her arms wrap around me and her mouth closes over mine, and I can taste her urgency, her fear that I am going to erase. She arches into me, and I can feel a dark seed of need and torment in her. A push and pull that is a warning before she shoves against my chest. “I can’t do this,” she whispers, her fingers curling around my shirt. “Don’t you understand? We can’t do this.”
I feel that announcement like a punch in the chest, but when she tries to pull away, I reject her withdrawal and I feel none of my own. I hold onto her, damn glad we’ve managed to remain alone in this corner of the store.
She tries to pull away again. And I kiss her again. She tries to resist, but in a hot minute she’s melting into me, but fuck, she’s kissing me like it’s goodbye. “Stop doing that,” she whispers when I pull back.
“We’re not saying goodbye.”
“I just did and I’m sorry. I never should have dragged you into my hell.”
