Slick’s Review – Running with a Sweet Talker (Brides on the Run #2) by Jami Albright

A runaway bride, a knight in not so shining armor, some big time familial revelations, an epic road trip, and two people finding love, what more could you want in a romance? ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

Blurb:
She’s a take-no-prisoners fireball. He’s a sweet-talking charmer. It could be love…if they don’t kill each other first.
Hotshot lawyer Luanne Price may not believe in happily ever after, but she’d do just about anything to earn her absentee father’s love. So when he waltzes back into her life with a plan for her to marry his business associate, she foolishly agrees. But on the wedding day, things go south. Fast. Luanne’s desperate to get away, even if that means hitching a cross-country ride with the infuriating Jack Avery.

Jack needs to get Luanne out of his system. He’ll watch her tie the knot and forget about her. Once she’s married to another man, then she’ll be off-limits forever. Solid plan. Until he spots her army-crawling through the bushes to escape the Wedding of the Season.

He knows he should let someone else deal with the runaway bride. But if there’s one thing Jack has never been able to do, is resist Luanne. Will their romance rev up on the open road, or will Jack and Luanne crash and burn?

Running With a Sweet Talker is the second book in a series of comedic contemporary romance novels. If you like zany characters, razor-sharp wit, and unlikely love stories, then you’ll love the first book in Jami Albright’s Brides on the Run series.

I love good enemies to lovers story and author Jami Albright does it up right in Running with a Sweet Talker. From the minute these two characters met in the first book of this series, their claws were out and it was easy to see their sharp wits were well matched, but the animosity was deep and I absolutely loved how that changed throughout this book. A runaway bride, a knight in not so shining armor, some big time familial revelations, an epic road trip, and two people finding love, what more could you want in a romance?

Tough as nails Luanne Price flees her wedding after uncovering some shady dealings and has to rely on her best friend’s husband’s slimy agent/attorney for help. The last person she wants to see is Jack Avery, but she realizes she has no choice and all she needs is a ride to her house, unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, that short ride becomes the ride of a lifetime.

Wow, Ms. Albright packed a whole lot of emotion, crazy mixed up family business, and two people discovering not only so much about themselves, but each other as well. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, and I sighed, this book brought out so many emotions. It was heartwarming yet passionate, poignant yet funny and I loved every minute of it.

I can’t say enough good things about this author who I found strictly by accident, but I will say if you aren’t reading Jami Alright, then you are missing out.
