Frisk Me!

(Or why I love a sexy law enforcement hero)

Hi Everyone!  Thank you for joining me in celebrating the release of my third Murder by Design novel, Once Upon a Ghost. If you haven’t read them, these books are fun and sassy mysteries about a home stager, Bailey, who is forced to become amateur sleuth by her ex-crush, Ryan. Which would be odd enough, but then add the fact Ryan is dead and a ghost, and things get really strange.

Fortunately, or sometimes unfortunately, she also has the help of cop, Jake Marner, who also happens to be Ryan’s former partner. On the plus side, at least Jake is alive. But her attraction to him, yeah, that is definitely a very big complication. As if solving mysteries with a ghost isn’t problematic enough.

So, I have to admit, I love law enforcement heroes. Rugged, protective, sexy. All the things a yummy alpha hero should be. And to celebrate my new release and hot cop heroes, I’d like to share some of my favorite sexy cop romances.

Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard

First of all, no one writes alpha heroes like Ms. Howard. In this book, Sam is a detective who is recruited by his neighbor, Jaine, to help her find the person who just killed one of her friends. But this murder doesn’t appear to be random. It seems to have happened because of a list Jaine and her friends made, cataloging the traits their Mr. Perfect would have. Unfortunately Mr. Perfect is turning into a nightmare, and Jaine is quickly realizing she doesn’t know who she can trust. Including Sam.

This story is sexy, exciting and a little creepy. But Linda Howard knows how to roll all those elements together and make them work to give you a hero you cannot forget.

Drawing the Line by Kimberly Kincaid

This one is a novella, if you are in the mood for a quick, sizzling read. Detective Jason Morgan is tasked with keeping Serenity safe. She is the only witness to a horrific crime, but keeping the feisty restaurant owner safe is much harder than he could have imagined. And of course, not falling in love with her is impossible.

This is a fun, super-sexy read. It is part of a series of novellas, and they are all fantastic. I highly recommend them all, but this happens to be my favorite. Chemistry, chemistry, chemistry!

Wanting Something More by Kathy Love

This is also a part of a series, but again, this one is my favorite. Marty is a supermodel trying to leave her career behind. She thought she wanted the fame and the fortune, but she’s learned all of that comes at a price. So she heads back to her small hometown in Maine, where she runs into Nate Peck, a man from her past who she cannot stand. But gradually, she starts to realize this once pompous chief of police has changed. And soon hate turns to lust.

This story is a little different than some of my favorite cop romances. While Nate is still very alpha, he’s also changed in some interesting ways due to an attack that left him for dead. This romance is sexy, but also emotional and quite tender. Again, I recommend this whole series. Good stuff!

Dangerous Kisses by Avery Flynn

When Claire discovers a dead body in the dumpster behind her restaurant, she thinks things can’t get much worse. But of course, they do. And soon the killer is after her. Jake, a private detective comes in to help her figure out who is threatening her. He’s cocky. He’s bossy. But despite all that, he’s irresistible.

The chemistry and banter in this book is fantastic. I loved the tension and heat between these two characters. A very hot story. Plus, I seem to like restaurant owners as much as cops.

Hope Flames by Jaci Burton

Okay, so this one has a cop and his police dog. Seriously, a man who loves his dog. Now, you know that is going to make him thoroughly sexy. Emma is a career-driven veterinarian who has no intentions of letting a man get in the way of her dreams ever again. But when a series of local break-ins leave her scared, she must turn to local officer, Luke. Luke has a painful past of his own, and he’s fine spending his time with the only companion he trusts, his police dog. But soon, they are both overcoming their bitter pasts and finding something in each other they never thought they would again, hope.

This story will totally melt your heart. Lots of past demons. Lots of angst. And lots of sexiness. Another story that is part of a series, all of which are entertaining and hot, but I do love Luke best. Who can resist a brooding hero with a dog? Not me.

These a just a few of my favorites. I’d love to hear which cop romances you love and why.

I also hope you will check out my Murder by Design mysteries. Okay, I don’t have a police dog in my stories. But a hot ghost and a hot cop…surely that makes up for a missing canine.

Once Upon a Ghost
Murder by Design Book 3
Release Date: October 10, 2017

With Bailey Burke’s design and staging business booming- it turns out tangling with a serial killer is the best advertising ever- she has no time to lament her lack of love life, or wonder where her dead friend Ryan’s ghost has gone. She hasn’t seen him in months, but when she finds a body in a home she’s been hired to stage she’s hounded by the dead man’s ghost.

Having been a medium before, this guy is by far the most irritating ghost she’s ever met, with his constant need to talk over her and flick pennies at her head. Without Ryan to guide her, she’s on her own to figure out what the dead man needs from her. On top of all that, cop Jake Marner is back in her life, ostensibly to protect her, but mostly to confuse her as to whether they are dating or not.

Before she can say “Put It Where?” Bailey finds herself immersed in mob dealings, the secret world of male-only sweat baths, and double dealings. When another body turns up, there is no doubt that she’s in over her head, again.
