Java Girl’s Review – Delirious (Quantum #6) by M.S. Force

I’ve enjoyed the last two books in M.S. Force’s Quantum series, but I was disappointed in Delirious. Love at first sight and Kristian’s feelings of being unworthy missed the mark for me. ~ Java Girl, Guilty Pleasures

Today we are celebrating the release of DELIRIOUS, an erotic romance title that is part of the Quantum series by M.S. Force. Check out the buy links and some teasers for the book below.

DELIRIOUS by M.S. Force

The 6th erotic romance title in the Quantum Series.

Book Blurb:

As one of Hollywood’s hottest producers, Kristian Bowen is on top of the world. With the Quantum team is fresh off a clean sweep of awards season and looking ahead to the premiere of their new film, Insidious, Kristian’s life is exactly how he likes it, complete with a stable of willing subs to tend to his every desire. Until he attends the wedding of his friend and business partner Flynn Godfrey and meets AileenGifford, the close friend of Flynn’s new wife, Natalie. Since meeting Aileen five months ago, Kristian’s carefully cultivated life has changed in ways he never could’ve expected. Now Aileen and her children are moving to Los Angeles, and he’s not sure whether to be excited or terrified about his powerful feelings for the single mom…

Aileen is coming off the worst year of her life, spent battling breast cancer while taking care of two young children. When Natalie, Flynn and their other friends encourage Aileen to move to LA and work for Quantum, she jumps at the chance to give her family a fresh start. And with her off-the-charts attraction to Flynn’s business partner in the mix, the idea of living in LA becomes that much sweeter. Until everyone shows up to welcome her and the kids to their new home in LA—except Kristian.

He can’t avoid her forever, and when these two finally see each other again, sparks fly between the single mom and the producer with a past he’s kept hidden from everyone who matters to him. When that past rears its ugly head, will he run away from the woman he loves or turn to her for comfort in the storm? And will she prevail in convincing him that he can be himself, in every possible way, with her?

Kristian and Aileen’s long-awaited story is full of heat, heart and humor, as well as appearances from all the Quantum characters readers love!

Two of my least favorite tropes in Romance are love at first sight and the character who doesn’t feel he/she is deserving of love/the heroine/hero. Unfortunately for me, Delirious has both. Some authors can make the instant love work, and Ms. Force did a stellar job here. I wasn’t crazy about it, but I could buy into the intense love Kristian and Aileen felt after knowing each other briefly. I wanted to love their story. Aileen is a wonderful character—a single mom and cancer survivor, she’s smart, charming, warm, loving, and straightforward. She wasn’t really the problem for me, Kristian was. Kristian is the executive producer and the heart and soul of Quantum. He’s loyal, generous, a devoted friend to his Quantum family, but he’s incredibly insecure about his past, and doesn’t recognize his value as a person. Thankfully, Aileen’s straightforward, honest approach to life prevented the story from getting bogged down too much by Kris’ self-doubt and general feeling of not being good enough for her.

Even though Aileen was quick to point out his accomplishments and the wonderful people in his life who cared deeply for him, I found it repetitious, and frankly, not very believable. The Quantum crew have been together for many years, are best friends and business partners, are privy to each other’s secrets, so I couldn’t quite buy into Kris not saying a word about his past to any of his friends…ever. Kristian has many wonderful qualities, and I wanted to love him. Honestly, at times, I did. However, there were too many instances of borderline melodrama. I found myself subconsciously reading Kris’ POV in a very dramatic voice (in my head, but still!), and that is never a good sign, in my opinion. Don’t misunderstand, Kris’ story is tragic and I found myself tearing up a couple of times, but overall, I was disappointed. I did enjoy the last two Quantum books, so my disappointment certainly won’t prevent me from reading the next one.
