This third entry in the Lawless Brothers series is probably the best yet. ~ Shadow, Guilty Pleasures
When Drew Lawless discovers a fatal flaw in his plan to avenge his parents’ deaths, he turns to the one woman he’d promised he wouldn’t touch. He offers her a deal, one that will bring her into his investigation, his life, and his bed.
Investigative reporter Shelby Gates never dreamed how twisted the case would become—or how fascinated she would be with Drew. Every day they spend together binds them. And every night brings her closer to realizing he might be the man for her.
As Drew’s feelings for Shelby grow, so does the danger. From the streets of Dallas to Austin’s high-tech business world, Drew and Shelby play a game begun twenty years before—a game they will win, or die trying.
This third entry in the Lawless Brothers series is probably the best yet. Drew Lawless is the older brother who works hard to protect his siblings, while finding the people who murdered his parents. Of the four known siblings, only he knows the truth about his parents deaths. His goal is to take the cuprit down, but his choice of weapon is a little questionable.
Shelby Gates is a reporter-a good one- and is totally taken off guard by Drew’s proposition: he wants her to investigate the death of his parents, in exchange for a tell-all book. Drew goes in knowing he’s drawing a target on Shelby’s back, but feels he can protect her. But can he protect her from himself?
The characters were great-strong but flawed. There are surprises along the way, lots of strong emotions, and great flashes of humor. The strength of the connection between Drew and Shelby is titanium strong, but also fragile. We get glimpses of the Taggarts from the tangental Masters and Mercenaries series, along with flashes of the other characters in this series.
Shelby was bright, dedicated, and totally in love with Drew. Drew was a bit clueless, but finally reached a point where I didn’t want to kick him in a sensitive area every few minutes.
Overall, a delightful read from a delightful author.

A solid finish to a terrific, sexy series of love, loyalty and betrayal. ~ Leigh, Guilty Pleasures
Revenge was a solid finish to a terrific, sexy series of love, loyalty and betrayal. There were so many twists and turns and manipulations going on in this family’s quest for justice and revenge that it sometimes made my head spin. But it always had me devouring the story and searching for my next Lawless fix.
In Revenge, we finally get Drew’s story. As the “hot nerd” alpha male oldest Lawless sibling, I eagerly awaited Drew’s story. He was protective and wickedly smart and would have run all over any other woman. But Shelby was truly his match. She was determined, she as quick, but most importantly, she loved Drew for the man he was, with all of his quirks and social ineptitude. As a couple they fit together perfectly, even if as partners in crime they were a bit dysfunctional and distrusting. However, failure to play nice aside, the mystery of Drew’s father’s murder was perfectly done, keeping everything suspenseful and keeping the reader on the edge of their seat until the very end.
I will admit that at times, I did find Drew overly frustrating. His tendency to push Shelby away in the name of protecting her made me want to smack him (and not in a naughty way). His need to control his family, even at the expense of his own desires, touched into martyrdom in a way that gave me angst reading this. And I wanted him to realize earlier that letting Shelby love him was not a weakness. At times I had to take a breather to make my blood pressure go down.
But, since I have to accept the characters as they are written, warts and all, I’ll certainly take him! Lexi Blake has yet to write something that I don’t absolutely love and find engaging and thoroughly intriguing. And this series clearly had her stamp all over it. Snappy dialogue, terrific characters from related series that we get to see again, a clever plot and a world that I can’t believe exists only in my kindle because it feels so real. I hope we see more of these siblings again because I can’t bear to leave them. Revenge wrapped the past up into a neat package to tuck away and I now desperately want to read about the future of the Lawless clan.
