SEX GOD by Marie Force

A Standalone Contemporary Romance!

Book Blurb:

A sizzling hot stand-alone contemporary romance!

I inherited a life I never intended to live.

I’ve upheld my responsibilities admirably.

And I’ve taken care of my own needs privately…

I’m biding my time until I can get the hell out of here.

But I didn’t count on having unfinished business

With one of my very best friends…

When a man has a certain “reputation” to uphold,

There can be no unhappy customers left behind.

Lauren is a loose end that won’t be tied up no matter how hard I try.

And I try hard. Really, really… hard.

Sex God is the much-anticipated follow-up to Sex Machine.

Sex God started out slow. Garrett gave up his dreams to come home, run the family business, and take care of his family following his father’s sudden death six years ago. Maybe it was because this was the third book in a row with a martyr-type main character, one of my least favorites, or perhaps it was the repetition of his plans to leave town as soon as he could. Whatever the reason, I had a hard time getting into the story.

However, once I did, I really liked it. Martyr complex aside, Garrett is a very likable man, and he and Lauren are perfect together. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, once they finally get together, the level of emotion between the two was unexpected in a light, sexy read. It’s one of Ms. Force’s strengths, so maybe I shouldn’t have been so surprised. Garrett and Lauren have amazing chemistry–the sex scenes are scorching (and plentiful), and the depth of emotion is touching and quite beautiful. The conflict was predictable and telegraphed early and often. Garrett was keeping secrets, and that never goes well. The epilogue made the ending feel a bit rushed, but overall, I enjoyed Sex God.
