Two-fer Review – All You Need (Need You #3) by Lorelei James

All You Need had many fun and flirty moments, but it was the sweet, sentimental, and sensual moments that made this book stand out and show Ms. James’ ability to craft the perfect story for this unique couple. ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

Description:
A hockey romance burns up the ice in the third sexy Need You novel from the New York Times bestselling author of the Mastered Series and the Blacktop Cowboys® Series.

PR agent Annika Lund can spin any disaster into a win. But revamping the reputation of a notorious Swedish hockey player will take every trick in her arsenal, especially when his agent insists that convincing everyone he’s no longer a playboy is top priority. And that it requires a sham relationship—with Annika playing the part of loving girlfriend.

On fire in the rink and in the bedroom, Axl Hammerquist couldn’t care less about being anyone’s golden boy. So when his agent forces him to play nice with a new publicist, he takes satisfaction in being as much of a pain as possible. But the more time he spends getting to know Annika, the more Axl starts to think that being Mr. Nice Guy might be worth it if it gets him the girl…

The Need You series by Lorelei James is the series that gets better and better with each book. All You Need is Book 3 and can be read as a standalone. If you’re at all like me, I like to start at the beginning. You can’t go wrong with this series. I’m in complete love with the Lund family and their love matches!

I was drawn in on page one and did not want to put it down! All You Need is told in alternating POVs which has become one of my favorite ways to read a book. There is something about being directly inside the head of the hero and heroine. I enjoy how much more personal these kinds of stories are to me.

Annika Lund is an intelligent, hardworking, sexy, and sassy businesswoman. The press calls her the “Iron Princess” and she’s anything but ice cold. She is hilarious! Her sense of humor is fantastic. How she deals with life is relatable.

Axl “The Hammer” Hammerquist is a smart, sexy, strong, Swedish hockey player. Did I mention HOT? Axl is a force to be reckoned with on and off the ice…if anyone would take the time to get to know him. He is so much more than what meets the eye.

The Lund family is a tight knit, loving family. Like real people, they have real problems. I love how Miss James makes us feel as though we could be in the story ourselves. Characters dealing with real-life issues in very real ways. Your heart cannot help but be touched.

I highly recommend All You Need. I enjoyed Miss James fresh take on this romance trope. There are some twists I didn’t see coming with an ending fit for a princess!

I’m a contemporary romance lover at heart and each and every book in Lorelei James’ The Need You Series has been spectacular and her latest release All You Need blew me away mainly because I was not thrilled with the hero and was standing in line to open up my own personal can of whoopa$$ on him, but Ms. James not only made him likeable and sympathetic, but he became a freakin’ Prince Charming in hockey gear. This was a very complex romance with a lot of ups and downs, but what I appreciated the most was this couple’s ability to communicate effectively, to accept responsibility for their actions, to apologize when necessary, and most of all to trust one another implicitly. This is a couple I have no doubt will one day be celebrating 50 years of marriage with their brood of children and grandchildren sitting at their feet hearing once again how “mormor” and “farfar” met and fell in love.

To say Annika Lund had a bad opinion of Axl Hammerquist after the first three encounters she had with him is putting it mildly nor does she understand the attraction she feels towards him, so pretending to be his girlfriend to help repair his very tarnished reputation is quite the juxtaposition for her. Annika is the epitome of a strong, confident, and talented businesswoman and while she has a trust fund to back her up, she is clearly a self made woman working her way up through her family’s company starting back to her high school days. I love that she is so down to earth and that her friends and family mean the world to her and she will do anything to make them happy even when in doing so she loses a bit of herself. Axl’s public persona makes him seem like a grade A a$$, but as his story unfolds it becomes evident there is way more to the man than the gruff, party loving, manwhore the media portrays him as.

Watching their relationship blossom, their verbal sparring that went from confrontational to caring, the hysterical pet names, seeing how in-tune they were to one another, and how from early on they found ways to take care of one another, is the stuff that real relationships are made of and just a few of the reasons I loved this book so much. While there was no denying the intense sexual chemistry between these two, it was the little moments that made this story completely believable and extremely special. Add in the amazing cast of secondary characters from family members to friends to team mates to neighbors and it was impossible NOT to fall completely in love with these characters and this story.

All You Need had many fun and flirty moments, but it was the sweet, sentimental, and sensual moments that made this book stand out and show Ms. James’ ability to craft the perfect story for this unique couple.
