Just What I Needed is a lovely contemporary romance that made my heart happy and my world a better place. I love a sexy story about finding the one that completes you when you’re not even looking.
Trinity is an artist who has this amazingly creative mind. She is one of my favorite heroine’s of all time. She’s quirky and genuine with a dash of neurosis. I am not sure that I have ever related so much to a heroine as I do Trinity. She is very real. I adored her from the moment we meet her in chapter 1.
Walker is just… SWOON… I love him! He is one hard-working, hot-looking, sexy-ass man who knows how to take care of others. He is the best kind of people. He is successful on his own merit. The way he embraces all of Trinity and her idiosyncrasies is so refreshing and beautiful.
Miss James writes amazing characters in a beautiful story about not giving up and about accepting all of ourselves. We all have our own quirks and issues. That’s a part of life. I loved how these characters were so real and decided not to lose out on each other because of certain tendencies.
Just What I Needed is book 2 in Lorelei’s The Need You Series. It can be read as a standalone, however, I think you’ll fall in love with the Lund family as much as I have and want to start with book 1.
There’s not much more I can say other than Lorelei James has written a quirky, fun, sexy contemporary romance that I could not put down and one I wish I could give an infinite amount of stars because this story, these characters, and this author deserve it. Okay, three more words…Walker “Freakin” Lund! ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures
The title of this book Just What I Needed is perfect because this book was just what I needed, this hero is just what I needed and this great, big group of nosey, loving Lund’s is just what I needed. I LOVED this book with all that I have, but a big part of why I loved this book is the hero, Walker Freakin’ Lund, (no that’s not his middle name, but the man has so many qualities that I love that in my book he’s freakin’ perfect so I gave him that middle name although mama Selka would probably chew my a$$ out for doing so)! There was something so organic about the relationship in this book; from the unusual way they met, to their very different personalities, to the way they “got” each other, to waiting until the time was perfect to take it to that next level, to their arguments, their fears and everything in between. Seriously, I just want to stop right now and say go buy this book and start reading so you will understand.
Walker Lund is unlike his brothers and his cousins; he’s blazed his own path and it’s made him into the person he is today. I love that despite the family name and the fortune that comes with it that Walker is self made. He’s blue collar and he won’t apologize for it; he loves his work despite the sometimes headaches, he’s there for his family whenever they need him, and the man loves his mama (and his daddy too). Walker is a good man, no scratch that he’s a great man, something that Trinity Amelia Carlson understands right away, but she’s not sure he can go to the distance with someone like her.
The creative mind has always fascinated me and that was no different when understanding Trinity in this book. I liked that she embraced her crazy, that she was upfront with Walker about all of her idiosyncrasies and that she didn’t let Walker’s family get to her and considering her experience with family dynamics that was a huge thing. I also appreciated that she could see when Walker had gone above and beyond and she would do her best to reciprocate even in the middle of a creative cycle and most of all I loved that she could read Walker’s moods, see how his family dynamics upset him at times and was truly interested in everything about his life.
While they had some moments of doubt and given their whirlwind courtship that was to be expected, I liked that they could talk or back off to give each other time and that they didn’t play the blame game. The owned up to their mistakes, talked about them and moved forward.
While Trinity’s family was less than stellar, the Lund family more than made up for it and I enjoyed watching her interact with them and the fact that she didn’t let them intimidate her. She held her own and in fact but a few of them in their place and while I believe none of Walker’s family intended to hurt Walker, they did and she was going to protect him and his kind, sweet heart.
There’s not much more I can say other than Lorelei James has written a quirky, fun, sexy contemporary romance that I could not put down and one I wish I could give an infinite amount of stars because this story, these characters, and this author deserve it.
