The spirit of the holidays and the wonder of mankind rising up to help someone they didn’t even know made A Fortunate Blizzard one amazingly touching yet incredibly sexy story and one that I am ready to read again and again. ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures
There are worse things than being stranded in a blizzard.
Artist Trevor Morrison has always appreciated the little things in life, treating each day as a gift. And with good reason: he’s been on the transplant-recipient list for too long now. When he learns just how numbered his days truly are, he resolves not to take them for granted. But he won’t be unrealistic, either—which means romantic commitments are off the table.
Marcus Roberts seems to have it all. He’s handsome, financially sound, and on the fast track to partnership at a prestigious law firm. In reality, though, his drive for success has meant no time for friends or relationships. Add in the fact that his family discarded him long ago, and he’s facing yet another holiday season alone.
When the biggest snowstorm to hit Colorado in decades leaves Marc and Trevor stranded at the same hotel, a chance encounter and a night of passion leads to more than either of them expected. Finding comfort in each other is a welcome surprise, but time is not on their side. Either they find a way to beat the odds, or they lose each other forever.

Sometimes a book just seeps into your soul and that was A Fortunate Blizzard by L.C. Chase. This is my first book by this author, but if this is indicative of her work, I’m pretty sure I’ll be fangirling big time. Poignant, sweet, beautiful and sexy all describe this most delicious holiday story that turns a chance meeting into the love one man thought he’d never have and one man thought time had run out on. I loved this story from beginning to end and honestly I feel certain this will be one I will need to read every holiday season from here on out.
From the first moment we meet both the heroes in this book, I was hooked. I felt a connection with them both and felt this sense of how lonely they both were and how much they needed a connection to another human being. Marcus appeared to have it all; a highly sought after attorney on way to making partner, handsome, and well off but his work consumes him. He doesn’t really have any friends and his family turned their backs on him long ago. Without his paralegal he’d have very little companionship at all and even she is disgusted because he won’t take time to go out and interact with the others in the office.
Trevor Morrison is an artist who loves his work and enjoys the trips he takes to see his wild, crazy and eclectic family but Trevor is living on borrowed time. His kidneys are failing and with his blood type a donor match is hard to find. He has some big decisions to make about what is left of his life and how to tell his family.
The immediate connection between these two was obvious and that was even before they slept together. I enjoyed their easy banter, the way they shared things with each other and their sexy times were off the charts. There really wasn’t any denying these two felt something big between them but as Trevor refused to share his health issues with Marcus he simply told Marcus it was such a hook-up and nothing more. I felt for Marcus as he tried to make Trevor see there was something for them to explore and while I admire Trevor for believing he was sparing Marcus any hurt, he didn’t realize how invested Marcus already had become.
What I absolutely loved was Trevor’s big and loving family being there for him and helping him through some tough times and decisions and Marcus finally opening up to his paralegal, Kate and the way she and her friends rallied with him to find a way to make a difference.
There were so many touching moments in this book and while at times it was sad almost to the point of despair, there was also a since of hope and rightness and that’s what made this book so wonderful. Like Lifetime Christmas movie wonderful, if only they’d get with the times and make a gay romance movie.
The spirit of the holidays and the wonder of mankind rising up to help someone they didn’t even know made A Fortunate Blizzard one amazingly touching yet incredibly sexy story and one that I am ready to read again and again.
