Claimed is a smoking hot thrill ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat. ~ Afrodyt, Guilty Pleasures
After a devastating war decimated most of the world, Hudson Lane has only known the oppressive life under her own father’s tyranny. She finally escapes, branding herself an outlaw and hunted by the Enforcers. Her best chance at survival is Connor Mackenzie, an aggressively sensual fugitive who opens her eyes to the wicked possibilities of a world without rules.
As the leader of a band of outlaw fighters, Connor can’t resist the beautiful stranger who asks for his protection. Despite his reservations, he agrees to introduce her to a whole new way of life. But when Connor discovers Hudson’s connection to the enemies of liberty, he wonders how far he can trust the woman who has abandoned all inhibitions to challenge every forbidden desire.

In this post-apocalyptic, dystopian world you either live in the colonies and go along with the communist program or be considered an outlaw destined to roam the decaying wasteland that civilization has become. Government has been replaced by a “Global Council” who have engineered society the way they see fit and let me tell you, it’s not pretty. Enforcers, the enforcement arm of the GC, ruthlessly patrol the outlying territories searching for outlaws and bandits using lethal force to keep everyone in line. There’s no more currency, only bartering and favors.
Connor is the reluctant leader of a band of outlaws. He is deliciously Alpha. One of those characters who is controlling because of circumstances not because he’s neurotic or damaged. He plays hard to get with women because he can afford to be picky and I liked that about him. Connor is gruff, formidable, and a ruthless bastard by his own admission. Yet he’s sexy, competent and effortlessly magnetic which is what catches the eye of our heroine, Hudson.
Hudson is on the run, being hunted by the Enforcers. She just needs a place to lay low when she runs into Connor and his crew. He is reluctant to take her in but being a beautiful woman worked in her favor. She’s got plenty of secrets that she tries to keep hidden but Hudson also has a lot of skills to contribute to the group and she offers them in hopes that they will let her stay. Of course they do, right? Wouldn’t be any fun otherwise.
With all the misery, uncertainty and danger in the outlaw territories the only real release, recreation and relief is thru sex and both men and women crave it in equal measure. It is a hedonistic culture steeped in “living like there’s no tomorrow.” Sex in this book came early and often. There’s lots of dirty talk, threesome’s, voyeurism, exhibitionism…it’s pretty damn kinky all around. Umm, yes please! Thank you, Elle.
I was fully immersed in this world while reading and when I wasn’t reading this story, I was thinking about it. Escapism at its best. The primary characters are well developed and the secondary characters are compelling, which is essential for the start of a new series. Claimed is a smoking hot thrill ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ladies, keep your BOB or SO on standby for this one!
