That’s the true litmus test for romance lover, do I want to hang out with these characters in real life? Absolutely, sign me up for the Off Campus experience please! ~ Ava, Guilty Pleasures
He’s a player in more ways than one…
College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.
Now he’s going to need to up his game…
After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

I hope by now you’ve seen Elle Kennedy’s independently published title, The Deal. It’s an excellent (hot) New Adult read with a hockey romance theme. The Mistake is the second installment to the Off Campus series. John Logan is a defensive player on Briar University’s Hockey team, and Garrett Graham’s best friend/ teammate/roommate. During book one he seems a bit fascinated by Garrett’s love interest Hannah. I honestly was a little worried at the beginning of The Mistake when I realized Logan was still harboring feelings towards Hannah. Elle dealt with this conflict in the most amazing way, kudos to her for creativity and plausible resolutions!
In all the ways Garrett was serious and dedicated to hockey, Logan is easygoing and fun, always out for a good time. He’s got a mess waiting for him after college so he’s making the most of his time at Briar. Grace is a bit inexperienced and studious in the girl next door fashion, paired with hefty dose of awkwardness she’s a very interesting and relatable girl. After a chance meeting with Logan in her dorm things seem to be a disaster waiting to happen.
They both leave for summer break on less than stellar terms. Grace enjoys her summer in Paris visiting her mom while Logan is stuck in the ‘real world’ of his post college future. Logan is determined to win back Grace’s interest when he returns to Briar, and he pulls out all the stops to get her attention. He’s a loveable and sweet guy and I felt like I wanted to take him home and keep him for myself. Elle has the college athletes banter and and good natured teasing down to an art form and feel like I’m sitting on the sofa having a beer watching the fun. The Deal was a scorching hot sweet ride and The Mistake fell into the same sexy, fun mold. Elle Kennedy delivered once again and proved why she is one of my favorite authors.~ Kimber, Guilty Pleasures
I’ve been a fan of Elle Kennedy for several years now and as much as I enjoy her military and romantic suspense stories, there is just something about her new Off-Campus series that really grabs me and gets me all worked up. I not only love the books in this new series, I’m completely addicted to them. The first book in the series, The Deal was a scorching hot sweet ride and The Mistake fell into the same sexy fun mold. Elle Kennedy delivered once again and proved why she is one of my favorite authors.
Grace is the kind of character you can easily identify with. She’s sweet and funny and knows how to have a good time. She’s the kind of friend everybody wishes they had. Sometimes it’s hard for me to connect with a young character. Either they’re too immature or do things that completely frustrate you, but I connected with her immediately and loved her throughout the story. Her wooing challenge for Logan was so funny and cute. That might have been my favorite part.
Logan is precious, easy-going, and so so sexy. I fell hard for him in the first book, so when I found out he was the star of The Mistake I got really excited. I couldn’t wait to find out what Elle had in store for him. His issues with Hannah and after college plans were real, and the way he dealt with his family endeared me to him even more.
The whole cast of characters are fantastic and fun to watch “grow up” while they play some hockey, keep up their grades, have a little fun, and fall in love. Elle Kennedy has sexual tension down to an art. Not only that, she delivers once that tension’s been broke. This book was smoking’ hot with a great story to go along with all the sexy times. It was perfect. From start to finish. I loved everything about this book.
The Mistake is about second chances, friendships, sacrifice, and love. If you enjoy fun-loving college boys who play sports, rag on each other, get their balls handed to them by strong, independent college women, then you will love these guys and their stories as much as I do.
