So the minute I saw the line-up of authors in this boxed set I knew it would be one I would buy and be thrilled to read and review. I couldn’t ask for more as I have read all of these eight authors before and have loved their work. I’m not surprised by how smokin’ hot this set is nor am I surprised by how well written and awesome these short stories are, so have a fire extinguisher nearby as you read because these ladies aim to set your panties on fire!

Feeding the Flames by Leah Braemel 5 stars

I always appreciate a story of two people who have wanted each other for years but the timing just didn’t work out and now all of a sudden it finally does and that’s exactly what happens in Feeding The Flames. Tabatha Morgan back in town following her divorce and running a successful diner wants nothing more than to catch the eye of Zac Buchanan whom she’s lusted after since she was a kid. After Zac tries to push her off on his best friend she’s confused and infuriated but when he comes back to apologize and ask for a date things get real serious real fast. I flat out loved these two together and the fact that they had so much history both as kids and teens and ever since she moved home. There was a familiarity between them that made it easy for them to move quickly into a sexual relationship something they’ve both wanted for a long time. I love that Tabatha accepted all parts of Zac and that he wanted her to know up front what she was getting into by starting a relationship with him. They moved quickly but when you’ve had years of foreplay who wouldn’t especially when they were already half way in love with each other anyway. Feeding the Flames is knock your bobby socks off sexy and worthy of a happy ending (and when you read it you’ll understand both those references)!

Combustible by Lexxie Couper 5 stars

Holy smokin’ hotness Desmond Russell and come and investigate anything, anytime for me or on me of course I’m betting Jess Montgomery might have a few choice words to say about that! From the time Desmond steps off the plane to lead a fire investigation in Wallaby Ridge he feels the waves of animosity rolling off Captain Jess Montgomery, the thing is he also sees the heat in her eyes and it has nothing to do with the blistering outback sun. There is no denying the absolute lust and attraction these two feel for one another but Jess is having a hard time having her work interrupted by a suit from Sydney especially one whose father botched the investigation on the fire that killed her brother. There was just something about the way Desmond showed Jess that he was competent at his job, the way he let her know that he realized she was good at her job, and the way he so masterfully took control and made her want him with abandon. The snark, the respect, and the absolute passion that flowed between these two made this story hotter than a summer day in the Outback and impossible to put down.

Wet Down by Delilah Devlin 4.0 stars

Sherry and Blake Thacker have what many would call at volatile relationship. Married for several years but currently separated Sherry is now serving at the mayor of the town and must coordinate with Blake regarding a wet down ceremony of a retiring fire truck. These are two individuals who seem to confront first and think later and as such their breakup is due to a huge misunderstanding. As more information comes to light, Sherry begins to see things more clearly and Blake must find it in his heart to forgive her or just move on. I was a little sad for Sherry and Blake in the fact that they really did seem to love one another but neither one seemed to have great communication skills however their “make-up” skills were quite good. There were some moments of hilarity in this book which made it fun to read even when the subject was a marriage on the brink of divorce. You have to appreciate small town romances where everyone in the town is in your business and has an opinion. An entertaining story with some amusing sex scenes make this a fun read.

Two to Spark by Marie Harte 4.5 stars

On Josie Young’s 27th birthday her roommate gives her a psychic reading where she is told she will meet her soul mate. While returning the psychic’s cat, Josie is knocked over by the psychic’s brother, Cooper, whom she has a little interesting history with but they both feel a shock of awareness they weren’t expecting and something they both decide is worth exploring. This was an easy story to like as both of the characters were caught off guard and yet they both knew it felt right so they moved pretty quickly into a sexual relationship. The secondary characters really added to this story and made it all the more interesting and of course now I’m wondering about their stories. A little bit outrageous yet provocative and fun I very much enjoyed Two To Spark.

Controlled Burn by Desiree Holt 4.5 stars

Sometimes a one night stand is just that and other times in can turn into so much more. When Montana Wade and Boone Crider lose themselves in each other they both can’t believe the passion they share but both figuring it was just one night no phone numbers were exchanged and they chalked it up to a very satisfying night. When they see each other in town the next day and realize they’ll be living in the same town, Boone can’t help but think it was fate they met and Montana seems to agree. Holy hotness these two burned up the sheets and then some and it was very satisfying for everyone including the reader! They really did have an instant connection that only grew as they decided to get to know one another and see what happens between them. Although I was perfectly satisfied by this story and the ending, this is a couple I would have loved to have had more time getting to know. Controlled Burn was a hot and satisfying love story with characters that will claim your heart from the start.

Up In Smoke by Lissa Matthews 4.0 stars

A house fire is bad enough but when that fire destroys a food bloggers newly remodeled kitchen it is devastating but when sexy fireman Josh and his half brother and paramedic Jay invite her dinner which turns in to so much more she begins to wonder if it wasn’t the best thing that ever happened to her. I enjoyed this story of Josh being enamored with Jessica from her foodie blog and loved that he often used her recipes and ideas to feed his firefighting family. The fact that his brother also admits to having a crush on her is no surprise to Josh since they seem to like the same type of woman and often at the same time. While I’m not normally a huge fan of ménage stories where two players are related for these two it seems like something they needed after discovering each other existed fairly recently. The fact that Jessica was quite a bit older than them and had come out of an unhealthy marriage made me like this story even more especially since Josh and Jay were determined to show her just how wrong her ex-husband was about her. Engaging and seductive Up In Smoke was an enjoyable story.

Rekindled by Cari Quinn 4.5 stars

Katie Kemp left her job as a firefighter after an accident in which she was injured at the same time she also left behind her fellow firefighter and lover, Dash Carlton something he still isn’t quite over being ticked off about. There is nothing like two pissed off people who have history and who still want one another to set the tone for a story and damn do these two throw enough sparks off each other to start one hell of a blaze. I loved that the fact these two were in close contact with each other again after time apart they couldn’t keep their lips to themselves. I love that Dash knew exactly what he needed to do to make Katie realize she needed to get back to work as a fire fighter (would it be cliché to say he lit a fire under her ass?). And more than that I loved that Katie realized what Dash did and loved him even more for doing it. Rekindled includes some sexy make up-reunion sex, two stubborn but loveable characters, and a funny “snowjob” making it one satisfying story!

Into The Fire by Shelli Stevens 4.5 stars

While out with her fellow firefighters the last thing Shannon expects to do is put her EMT training to use on the club’s owner after he is cut during a fight and the last thing she expects is for that club owner to be Russ a fellow high school jazz band member. I really like Shannon and her take charge attitude and the fact that she wasn’t afraid to make the first move. Russ confused me even if he thought he had his reasons but thankfully he was smart enough to realize he needed to put his cards on the table before walking away for good. I think they both were a little surprised by how comfortable they were with each other from the start and the fact that they didn’t have to hide who they were from one another. I also liked that together they explored boundaries and learned some new things about themselves and each other. A little bit kinky and a whole lot sexy made Into The Fire one sizzling story!
