Unbelievable, emotional, heartbreaking, heartwarming … Somebody’s Angel was an emotional roller-coaster that had me stunned, surprised, crying and smiling. ~ Kitty, Guilty Pleasures
When Marc d’Alessio first rescued the curvaceous and spirited Italian Angelina Giardano at the Masters at Arms Club, he never expected her to turn his safe, controlled life upside down and pull at his long-broken heartstrings. Months later, the intense fire of their attraction still rages, but something holds him back from committing to her completely. Worse, secrets and memories from his past join forces to further complicate his relationships with family, friends, and his beautiful angel.
Angelina cannot give all of herself to someone who hides himself from her. She loves Marc, the BDSM world he brought her into, and the way their bodies respond to one another, but she needs more. Though she destroyed the wolf mask he once wore, only he can remove the mask he dons daily to hide his emotions. In a desperate attempt to break through his defences and reclaim her connection to the man she loves, she attempts a full frontal assault that sends him into a fast retreat, leaving her nobody’s angel once again.
Marc finds that running to the mountains no longer gives him solace but instead leaves him empty and alone. Angelina is the one woman worth the risk of opening his heart. Will he risk everything to become the man she deserves and the man he wants to be?

Unbelievable, emotional, heartbreaking, heartwarming … Somebody’s Angel was an emotional roller-coaster that had me stunned, surprised, crying and smiling. Marc needs to face his past and Angelina has to have the patience and understanding of a saint to see him through the toughest part of his life. Love has conquered them but trust may ruin them.
We all know about Marc and Angelina from Nobody’s Angel. Even though they had their own book, there was no HEA for them. There were a lot of issues that needed to be faced – Melissa, Marc’s past and Angelina’s need for trust. I know that a lot of fans were disappointed that #5 of the Rescue Me series was not Luke and Cassie and didn’t understand why these issues could not have been resolved in their story but, after reading Somebody’s Angel, I, for one, get the point. There was no way to bring Marc’s sordid history to the forefront without facing it head-on … giving them the HEA that they both wanted and deserved. Marc’s flash-backs to his youth, to his teen-age years … his unresolved feeling over losing Gino … all added up to his trust issues with woman. When he brings himself to Adam after losing Angelina for the third time, he commits to a torture that will have you crying, begging for his mercy and praying for it to end. A mind-fuck beyond all mind-fucks and kudos to Adam for having the guts to carry it out.
There were times that Angelina totally disappointed me. Loving Marc as she does, she cannot give up on the trust issues that she is having. I understand the reason, totally agree with her point of view but I don’t know if I would just keep walking out on him. He has issues with losing people that he loves and she keeps walking away. Melissa was no help in this department at all. But, thanks to her, all was finally revealed which left her with no stronghold over the d’Alessio family. Bye-bye Melissa! Then, she kept harping on the damn wolf mask which did end up being an important issue and all is revealed as to why he wore that particular mask. She redeemed herself totally and completely when she realized what he went through to be able to open himself up to her. Finally, she is standing by her man – through thick and thin and totally earned my love and respect.
And Adam – geez – give the woman what she wants! How many times does the doctor have to tell you that it’s okay? If I was Karla I would have given him one of the head-slaps that he was known for. Get in the game, Adam, your woman needs you!
As in all the past books, Kally brought us up to date on all of our Masters. We celebrated with Damian and Savannah, we know Luke is still stuck on the mountain with Cassie and the whole d’Alessio clan is represented throughout the book. Guest appearances by Gunner, Patrick and Grant. I’m a little bit intrigued by Gunner and hope that Kally graces us with a book about the Sadist.
But all in all, even though Somebody’s Angel was a bit different from the rest of the series, not as much sexual BDSM as in the past, I loved it. I was one of Marc’s first fans (maybe because of my Italian heritage) but there was always something about him that drew on my heartstrings. I always knew that he would be a complicated, loving man and hoped that he would realize all that he had in front on him. Congratulazioni, Kallypso, in una bella, ben scritto, libro emozionale che mi ha lasciato senza parole e piangere! (Congratulations, Kallypso, on a beautiful, well-written, emotional book that left me speechless and crying!)
