I remember months ago when I read on Kresley Cole’s Facebook page that she would be atruegemawardreleasing a new erotic series, at which point I squealed like a teenage girl at a One Direction concert. Yes, it’s true, I’ve always said the naughtier the better but that’s not the ONLY reason I got all excited. No matter if it’s her IAD paranormal series, her YA series, or her historicals, the woman knows how to tell a fantastic story and I knew The Professional would be no different. She’s definitely off to a great start with this one and though we only touched the tip of the iceberg with the eroticism, I do not believe writing in this genre will be a problem for her. I am however holding out hope that said eroticism kicks into high gear in the 2nd and 3rd release because according to the branding this serial is erotic and I felt that element was somewhat lacking – at least compared to others in the same genre.

Part 1 in the three part series has set up quite an interesting story line. Natalie, our heroine, is a young grad student pursuing her PhD, working several jobs to make ends meet as well as fund a six year search for her biological parents. Between the studying and work schedules she doesn’t have time to date, is not interested in one night stands, and frankly hasn’t met anyone worth her while. She has an uncanny way of “manalyzing” guys until she comes across “The Siberian.” She can’t get a read on him and naturally she’s intrigued and decides to approach. Aleksandr Sevastyan has secretly been sent to the US to protect Natalie and for an entire month he’s closely watched over her, and although he is exceptionally loyal to his boss, he is finding it very difficult to resist the pull of attraction he can’t help but feel when he’s anywhere near her. Dangers are lurking and it’s time to bring Natalie up to speed but upon finding out who he is and what he’s been up to, she is, to put it mildly, really pissed off and it doesn’t help matters that she still desires him. He’s all kinds of experienced and has some darker needs in the bedroom that he’s all but ready to show her yet this whole loyalty thing is getting in the way. Can someone please hand me a chain saw to cut this sexual tension? Right when we really started to get into the story while learning more about the mysterious, bossy, brooding Sevastyan the dang thing ended! I groaned. Maybe even stomped my foot and might have flung a few curse words but I told my inner child to chill the heck out. Thanks to everything that is holy and just in the world the next two installments are released in January.

Kresley Cole’s brand of humor will have you laughing out loud and the sexual tension and fast-paced action will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting more. My appetite was whetted and I’m dying to see what happens next.
