Review – Under The Sun (Stories from Sapphire Cay #2) by Meredith Russell & R.J. Scott

This was an easy story to love, the characters were entertaining to say the least, the setting is one we all dream of, and they relationship was steamy, sexy, and very satisfying. ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

Edward McAllister, wedding planner extraordinaire arrives at Sapphire Cay for a wedding. He has four days to go until the big day and his plans are smashed when he spots the stage he was setting is destroyed. Doesn’t matter that the guy pulling down the old gazebo and digging trenches is hot – he is messing with Edward’s OCD and Edward isn’t afraid to let the other man know exactly how he feels.

Jamie Durand is and ex marine and son of the former owners of Sapphire Cay. He is on the island to get his head around his new life after leaving the forces due to injury. When Edward arrives in his space he is bemused at the instant dislike the uptight man is showing towards him.

Not an auspicious start. But just you wait when Edward relaxes and Jamie opens up. Fireworks.

We return to Sapphire Cay to find the previous owner’s son coming to rest and rejuvenate atruegemawardfollowing an injury he sustained in the line of duty. Jamie Durand is fighting some pretty big demons and on top of that he’s trying to figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life. For now he’s happy to be back at the place he always felt a sense of contentment, little does he know his life is about to be turned upside down Edward McAllister, a prissy British wedding planner who seems determined to give Jamie a hard time at every turn and not in a good way!

Talk about polar opposites, these two men couldn’t be more different. Jamie at home in shorts, no shoes or shirt required and Edward planning his wardrobe down to the last accessory. Jamie letting his hair dry with no help and Edward styling his to within an inch of his life. Jamie having no plans and no idea what he wants to do and Edward who guards his planner (bible) with his life. Their first few meetings were rough to say the least; you could feel the disdain rolling off of them in waves. But, we all know there’s a fine line between love and hate or in their case lust and they soon find a way to relieve the tension between them.

I have to admit Edward really surprised me in this story with his easy acceptance of Jamie’s scars both mental and physical. I wasn’t sure he was the type to go for someone so rugged and with obvious issues but he was sweet, caring, and concerned. We really saw a different side of him when he was with Jamie. I loved the Jamie readily accepted Edward’s help and opened up to him about everything that was going on with him in his life. It was easy to see the unwavering trust and immediate connection they formed. So while I didn’t immediately like Edward, I found myself loving him and Jamie both for the two very unique individuals they are especially when together.

It was easy be lulled right back into the Sapphire Cay atmosphere and with Dylan and Lucas (from book one) there we were treated to little snippets of how they are faring as the now owners of the Cay. As well as how their relationship is progressing, something that always pleases me greatly in a series.

This was an easy story to love, the characters were entertaining to say the least, the setting is one we all dream of, and they relationship was steamy, sexy, and very satisfying. Under The Sun is a great addition to this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next at Sapphire Cay!
