Review – Follow The Sun (Stories from Sapphire Cay #1) by Meredith Russell & R.J. Scott

Follow The Sun is the first book in this series and I can’t wait to see what the authors will come up with next. If this book is any indication, we are in for a real treat! ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

The first in a series of books filled with romance and drama on Sapphire Cay in the Bahamas.

Lucas Madison is in the Bahamas for his sister’s wedding on the beautiful and idyllic island of Sapphire Cay.

He has the weight of the world on his shoulders. With the stress of his job, the loss of his friend, and faced with his own medical crisis, Lucas arrives on the white sands of Sapphire Cay gray and exhausted. His only thought is to see his sister married and happy.

Dylan Gray is a free-spirited traveller who literally follows the sun. Never settling in one place for long, he earns his way from state to state and continent to continent. But there’s something about Sapphire Cay that draws him back over and over. A feeling of home.

When these two men meet, both have decisions to make and directions to choose. And maybe together, they can make the right ones and follow not only the sun, but also their hearts.

This is the story of Lucas and Dylan, set against the stunning landscape of Sapphire Cay.
reviewedby-Slick I so enjoy a good man love story and Follow The Sun by RJ Scott and Meredith Russell is as atruegemawardemotionally gratifying as it is sexually delicious. The fact that it takes place on an island paradise adds a luscious backdrop to a very good story. Lucas is a workaholic on his way to an early grave according to his doctors if he doesn’t slow down. Luckily he is on his way to Sapphire Cay for his sister’s wedding and an extended vacation much to his the dismay of his boss. He hopes for some rest and relaxation and he finds that and so much more. Dylan is a rambling man always following the sun. He loves spending time on Sapphire Cay but is gone once the season is up. He finds himself reassessing his life and making some changes he hopes will bring him the peace he’s been looking for. If there were ever two people who needed someone it was these two but for very different reasons. The fact that they are opposites just makes them falling for one another that more special. I like that despite some heavy duty kissing and some mutual satisfaction, they didn’t immediately jump into bed. It was nice seeing them spend some time enjoying the island, the sun, and each other. The authors did a nice job with Dylan’s background and life but Lucas’ character wasn’t as fleshed out and I had to wonder why he reacted the way he did on several occasions. He ran so hot and cold at the beginning and it drove me nuts not knowing why he was being that way. I liked his character; I liked both of these men immensely. Lucas because of his love for his sister and wanting to make sure she’s taken care of, for his dedication to his job, and for the heartache he’s suffering from losing a friend. Dylan has suffered a lot in his life yet he maintains a positive attitude and lives life on his own terms. I really admire people who do that day in and day out. I also love that they both felt comfortable enough with each other to share some of their struggles despite not knowing each other very long. I found this book to be a wonderful love story with some steamy M/M action thrown in for good measure. While they end with a HEA, I admire that these men make decisions that were good for them, not because of their relationship. Follow The Sun is the first book in this series and I can’t wait to see what the authors will come up with next. If this book is any indication, we are in for a real treat!
