Review – Waiting For Love (The McCarthys of Gansett Island #8) by Marie Force

This is another beautifully written love story. It draws you in and stays with you after you are done reading. ~ Guilty Pleasures

wflmfDescription:
Sometimes the best offense is a good rebound…

Adam McCarthy has had a really bad week. In addition to nearly losing his three brothers in a tragic boating accident, his now ex-girlfriend has double-crossed him right out of the successful computer company he founded in New York City. What he needs is a few days at home on Gansett Island to make sure his beloved brothers are safe and to get back in touch with what really matters—his family, his friends and the tiny island that soothes his battered soul. On the ferry ride home, he runs into an old family friend who’s had her own share of heartache, and Adam helps her through some rough moments, sparking an unlikely alliance.

Abby Callahan has come home to Gansett, single once again after her relationship with Dr. Cal Maitland blows up in her face. After two epic failures in the game of love, she’s decided this is going to be the summer she busts loose and finally has some fun—and she’s shaking things up in a big way! The new Abby swears, drinks, gets a tattoo, sleeps around and generally does anything her kinder, gentler alter ego wouldn’t have dreamed of doing.

Before too long, Adam has appointed himself her guardian and is determined that the only sleeping around she’s doing is with him. That is… unless his brother Grant is willing to risk his newfound happiness with Stephanie to keep Adam from rebounding with his ex. And what happens when Adam and Abby realize their summer fling has taken a serious turn, especially when he gets the chance to return to New York and fight for the company that’s rightfully his? Abby has already followed two men off the island. Does she have it in her to find out if the third time really is the charm?

Another wild summer on Gansett Island is under way, complete with new stories for many of your favorite couples from past books! You’ll also see more of Dan and Kara, David and Daisy, and find out whether Carolina has made peace with her relationship with the much younger and very sexy Irishman, Seamus O’Grady. Ready? Set? Let’s go back to Gansett Island!

I can not begin to tell you guys how much I adore The McCarthy’s of Gansett Island series by Marie Force. Marie is such a wonderful storyteller, and her books drawn you in from start to finish.

Waiting for Love picks up about week after the Race Week boating accident in Longing for Love. atruegemawardMac, Evan and Grant are having a hard time dealing with the events of the accident along with their dad. I will just say this is one of the most emotional story lines in the book and perhaps the series. I ached right along with this family. I am getting tears in my eyes now just thinking about it. This story line a true testament to Marie’s writing. It stays with you long after you finish the book.

Adam has just had the one thing he thought he loved most taken away from him by the one person he thought he could trust. He is coming home to see for himself that his brothers are fine after the boating accident that could have taken them all away from him. Abby has once again been left holding the bag in a relationship that she gives up everything for. But, these two find in each other what they have been looking for all long. I had read comments before this book came out from several fans that were worried about how this relationship would develop seeing as Abby is Grant’s ex-girlfriend, but Marie pulled it off perfectly. The family reaction to Adam and Abby being together was spot on. I was glad that Abby found her perfect McCarthy, and Adam realized that a simpler life could be better than fast city life. The love story between Adam and Abby is perfectly written. You fall in love right along with them.

One of the best things about this series for me, is that the characters we have fallen in love with in previous books still have their stories continue in each book. Marie never leaves her readers wondering what is happening with the couples from the previous books. This is a series about a family and friends, and this is never forgotten in each book.

We get to catch up with all our favorite Gansett Island couples, and even Big Mac and Linda this time! All I can say is Big Mac makes me swoon and apple does not fall from the tree when it comes to his boys. Lots of happy news in this book. I will not give away a surprise I never saw coming and had me saying OMG out loud several times, but it is a great one!

Marie’s stories manage to make me laugh out loud and cry. Sometimes both at the same time. This is another beautifully written love story. It draws you in and stays with you after you are done reading. Up next will be David and Daisy, which I can not wait for of course. If you have not read this series you should give it a go, and start with book 1 Maid for Love. I promise you guys will not be sorry!

Happy Reading!!
