Review – Secret Sins (The Callahans #3) by Lora Leigh

I was enthralled and captured from the beginning of Secret Sins. I was drawn in and didn’t emerge until the bitter end. ~ Guilty Pleasures

ssllDescription:
Sheriff Archer Tobias has watched the Callahan family struggle to find peace and acceptance in the community—despite the murders that continue to haunt them. But his darkest suspicions grow worse when Anna Corbin, a member of one of the country’s most influential families, becomes the next target…

Anna knows she’s in danger. She knows she’s on a trail of secrets and lies that could lead to a dead end. But no matter what, she’s determined to learn the identity of the killer—even if it’s someone she loves…

Torn between duty and desire, Sheriff Tobias cannot allow Anna to put herself in the path of a deranged murderer. But as the investigation pulls them closer together—and deeper into the nightmare—he realizes that he cannot save her from this legacy of blood and vengeance…without putting his own life on the line.

reviewedbyKittyI knew when I started reading the Callahan Brothers series that it would be exciting and unbelievably sexy. It’s Lora Leigh – I wouldn’t expect anything else. What I didn’t count on was how the intrigue and mystery would just suck me in and not let go.

Archer was brought into the Corbin family when Anna was just a little girl. She has always looked purestdelightawardup to him and has always loved him. She has saved herself just for Archer – no other man can compare to him. Archer has always been “aware” of Anna but kept his distance. He is just looking for a good time because he can’t allow himself to love again. But circumstances bring the two of them together and their lives will never be the same.

The Slasher has targeted Anna. But why? Archer needs to figure out this riddle; he needs to find the truth as to why Anna was moved from school to school and kept out of Corbin county. He needs to learn the secrets that The Barons have been hiding all these years. Anna is in danger and he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe even if he loses his heart to her.

Anna is finally a strong, independent woman who returns to Corbin County and refuses to leave. She wants to know her cousins Crowe, Logan and Rafer and she wants a life with Archer in it. She’s a woman now – he can’t ignore her any longer. She’ll seduce him one way or another and she’ll have that kiss that he promised her when she turned 18 and, hopefully, so much more. But, Grand pop will not allow her to stay. When she defies him and takes a job with Brute Force, a company partially owned by the Callahan Brothers, he disowns her. She’s on her own – no where to go – with nothing but the clothes on her back. Until Archer finds her and brings her into his home and gives her exactly what she has been waiting for.

With the Slasher still on the loose, Archer calls in all his favors to protect Anna even though she protests. He only strikes out against the Callahan Brothers former lovers – why his Anna? Things are not making sense and, as secrets are revealed and layers are pulled back, the truth will surprise everyone and devastate Anna and destroy Crowe. The Slasher is revealed, the truth about Anna and the Callahan Brothers becomes known and now Archer needs to bring an end to all the death in Corbin County and secure his life with Anna.

Again, Lora Leigh leaves you breathless as you learn who and why the Callahan Brothers have been targeted all these years. The love between Anna and Archer is unbelievable. Yes, you want to slap Archer every now and then to get him to open his eyes and his heart. But, when he does, you believe it, you feel the love he has always had for Anna and your heart breaks as she is kidnapped. You understand why he fought it and you cheer when he finally admits to it. I loved that she brought in characters from her other series tying them all together. Ah, the Elite Ops – how I miss them! I was enthralled and captured from the beginning of Secret Sins. I was drawn in and didn’t emerge until the bitter end. Silent Sins was a definite page-turner … you didn’t know what was going to happen next and was absolutely surprised with who the Slasher is. I cannot wait to read Crowe’s story and to see how she brings the suffering and heart-ache to an end.5silver-stars
