It really got to me in a way I did not expect.. ~ Guilty Pleasures
Description:
He’s a demon…and she’s no angel.
Logan Frost, failed singer and recovering meth addict, is given the chance of a lifetime when a friend offers her the lead spot in his established rock band. But things get complicated when she starts hallucinating human-ish creatures with black eyes who disappear through walls. So when the gorgeous, mysterious Jaeryth falls into her life, claiming he can see the creatures too, she can’t help but feel a bond with him.
Jaeryth is a demon who’s long been obsessed with Logan—so much that he’s been ignoring his demonic duties. As punishment, he’s been made human and charged with corrupting Logan, who harbors a power she’s unaware of that could be used for great good…or evil. And if Jaeryth can’t corrupt her, he has to kill her.
If he doesn’t complete his mission, he’ll spend eternity being tortured in Hell. Unfortunately, he’s falling in love with the woman he’s supposed to destroy.

I have to admit I wasn’t so sure about this one when I first started out, recovering meth addict, angels and demons but I have to admit it didn’t take long for my opinion to change, for the better. My first book by S.W. Vaughn and it really got to me in a way I did not expect.
Logan Frost had a terrible childhood and when the only person that gave a damn about her passed away Logan lost herself in drugs. Spending seven years as a meth addict and now after six month she is out and clean determined never to use again. As soon as she steps out of rehab a voice in her head starts to direct her towards the drugs and the life she had before. Not wanting anyone to think she isn’t just a recovering addict but also crazy she keeping this bit to herself. Her lifelong dream was to be a singer but that had been washed away with each push of the needle and now her friend and counselor Tex offers her a chance to sing lead vocals with his band the Ruined Souls. Although not having much confidence in herself she still gives it a try.
Jaeryth is a master demon who is hell bent on taking hold of Logan’s soul. Seven years he had been working on getting her as corrupt as he could until an angel stepped in and led her away from him and now he is pissed and wants her back with a vengeance. Logan is his, she is special and he will stop at nothing to obtain her. Even when he is told to stay away from her and is severely punished he still seeks her out knowing it could end up costing him a great deal.
Logan with all that she had been through even with the drugs was strong and fought to change her life and even when she felt a relapse coming on she did the right thing never giving up on what she wanted and her dream.
There was definitely more than one soul to be saved here and when Jaeryth and Logan worlds collide it’s nothing either of them expected they both have to make choices and sacrifices that can change both of their fates.
Even with the serious topic the added humor enlighten the book and gave it that needed push to make it that much more enjoyable. The secondary characters were a great fit and well written. I am happy to say that I was thoroughly please and walked away with a happy face
