In The Chase, Adrienne turns the heat up about a thousand degrees without sacrificing any of the suspense you’ve come to expect from her stories. ~ Guilty Pleasures
Description:
Hard-driving attorney Jo Pomeroy is as determined as she is sexy—in other words, a major pain in NYPD Sergeant Gabe Townsend’s butt. Working together on a high-profile task force charged with busting sales of counterfeit goods has been rocky from the start. And Jo’s penchant for trouble is as difficult to ignore as her spectacular legs.
The world of knock-offs isn’t as frivolous as it appears. The purses are fake, but the danger is all too real—and Jo seems hell-bent on putting herself in the middle of it. Her investigations have uncovered valuable leads for Gabe’s team, but they’ve also drawn the wrong kind of attention.
Now, she’s on the radar of a mysterious smuggler not afraid to use violence to evade the law. At the risk of their lives—and their hearts—Gabe and Jo must find him before he finds them.

I got hooked on Adrienne Giordano’s books back in the summer; I was looking for something different and came across a publisher’s ad on Face book for her latest in her Private Protectors series. I requested the whole series to review and was so happy I did as I “discovered” yet another author who writes romantic suspense with a lot of heat. In The Chase, Adrienne turns the heat up about a thousand degrees without sacrificing any of the suspense you’ve come to expect from her stories.
I don’t know where to begin with our heroine, Jo Pomeroy. She’s a tough intellectual property
attorney in New York City and is serving on a task force to put the suppliers and sellers of counterfeit goods out of business. She has some high profile clients and she aims to please. She’s without question; smart, tough, brash, funny, and sexy as hell. She also aims to drive her task force partner, Sergeant Gabe Townsend right up the wall. Gabe is without a doubt swoon worthy but in addition to being hot, he’s got a good head on his shoulders, he’s thoughtful, caring, and professional until he’s around Jo and then all bets are off. I love that he’s not afraid of this ultra strong woman, her alpha tendencies don’t turn him off if anything it turns him on.
I flat out loved these characters from the moment they stepped on the page until the last line. Their banter is some of the best foreplay ever written and when they do finally cross that professional line it was undeniably hot. What I’ve always loved about Adrienne’s books though is the thorough plot lines and this novella is no different. My one complaint, this book leave us hanging…we get a glimpse of where they are headed but it’s basically a “to be continued” and that drives me nuts! However, if this book is an example of what is to come with this series then I’m apt to be forgiving.
The Chase is a great start to what appears to be another very promising series by Adrienne Giordano. It has everything it takes to be a successful romantic suspense; a hot as hell male lead, strong but feminine female lead, great supporting characters, a superior plot line, witty and engaging dialog, and a simmering heat that will have you screaming for more!
