Be prepared for an emotional journey that will rip your heart out but in the end will NOT leave you feeling HOPELESS. ~ Guilty Pleasures
Description:
Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…
That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.
Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

*Subject matter may cause triggers for some readers*
I never thought the word hopeless could turn out to be so beautiful and emotional so contradictory to the real meaning. What Colleen Hoover has done in this amazing story of HOPELESS is beyond anything I ever imagined this book to be. Never judge a book by its cover well I am here to tell you that exactly, do not judge HOPELESS by the title.
Sky has lived a sheltered life until she meets Dean Holder no longer feeling numb to the world
around her Holder makes her feel things she is unsure of. Sky doesn’t understand why she is so drawn to Holder what it is about this lost boy that has even tattooed himself as “hopeless”, him more than anyone else that makes her feel complete and right. Although adopted and not knowing anything about her past she has a life that she loves. Until a life that she had forgotten forces its way back and what she once thought was real is turned inside out in a matter of minutes. Dreams become reality and reality becomes a nightmare.
Dean Holder lost so much at such a young age and then even more before finding the one person he never thought to see again. Seeing Sky he feels a connection that he thought he had lost. However, not knowing if in fact it is the Hope he once lost or hopefulness that he is only grasping on to. He tries to shelter Sky from his and even her past until the door is opened and the truth comes out.
When the past comes crashing down around Sky, Holder is there to steady her to hold her and give her the hope and strength she needs to face the nightmares that she kept blocked out for so long. Sky is there to show Holder that he is not the person he believes himself to be and if anything nothing is his fault. Together they both help each other to heal and find the true meaning of hope.
This book freaking stole my breath and along with it my heart! Ms. Hoover’s writing style for the subject matter was absolutely amazing I don’t know how she did it, as a reader I was blown away; I commend her for how she ever got through it to put it from pen to paper so eloquently.
Have plenty of tissue on hand and just be prepared for an emotional journey that will rip your heart out but in the end will NOT leave you feeling HOPELESS.
