ARC Review – The Mysterious Madam Morpho (Blud #1.5) by Delilah S. Dawson

Description:
Taking place after Wicked as They Come, this original eBook features a mysterious lady and a reclusive mechanical genius who find love and danger in a traveling circus.

An elusive woman arrives at Criminy’s doorstep with a steamer trunk, begging for a position in the caravan to perform her unique new act. She opens her trunk to reveal a menagerie of brilliantly colored butterflies. The woman, who calls herself Madam Morpho, is on the run from a dark past in London, where she was forced to leave her equipment behind and abscond with only her tiny performers. Playing a hunch, Criminy hires Madam Morpho on the spot. Taking her down to meet Mr. Murdoch, the reclusive talented engineer who keeps the carnival’s clockworks running, Criminy instructs them to work together to design and build a groundbreaking new circus for the butterflies. Amid the magical ambiance of the circus and the hint of danger from Madam Morpho’s pursuers, she and Mr. Murdoch soon find that their scientific collaboration has produced chemistry of a more romantic kind.

COME ONE, COME ALL for a return visit to Criminy Stain’s Clockwork Caravan!!!  Where you are sure to be amazed by the incredible world Delilah S. Dawson has created.

In Ms. Dawson’s debut book Wicked As They Come readers are introduced to a world of a modern day world consisting of wonders of days gone by, steampunk elements, bludanimals, clockworck pets and vampires.   In The Mysterious Madam Morpho we are transported back to this intriguing world.  Criminy and Tish are married, the caravan is going strong and just outside London when a mysterious lady shows up at their door.  Tish convinces Criminy to let Madam Morpho stay and perform to see if she will fit in their family of misfits.  Criminy agrees and tells Madam Morpho she will have to work with the Mysterious Mr. Murdoch.

Reclusive, gruff Mr. Murdoch does not know what to think about Madam Morpho, he is intrigued by her, but he has lived the life of a recluse for years.

Madam Morpho is a woman on the run, a woman who has never had affection or care from anyone.  Raised by a neglectful and cruel father, taunted and ridiculed while at University, she doesn’t trust anyone.  Now she is being forced to trust Mr. Murdoch in order to survive, as she starts working with him she realizes for the first time in her life she feels attraction.

Mr. Murdoch and Madam Morpho are perfect for each other, they have each been cut off from affection and warmth for years.  Their attraction is instant and the straightforward way shy Madam Morpho goes after Mr. Murdoch leaves him no choice but to give in.  For being a recluse and without a woman for years, Mr. Murdoch is a gentleman and sweet…until Madam Morpho pushes his buttons and he can no longer resist her.

I am so glad Ms. Dawson wrote this novella about Mr. Murdoch, I was intrigued by him from his brief appearance in WATC.

I LOVE this series!  Nothing is as it seems…or is it?  Ms. Dawson has a way of pulling readers into this twisted, fantasy world, full of passion and romance…along with blud creatures just waiting to eat you.

If you are looking for something original, sexy, fun and interesting to read, you should really start this series!  I cannot wait for the release of Wicked As She Wants, April 30, 2013.
