At a camp filled with vampires, werewolves, and fairies, Kylie Galen has always struggled to figure out what she is. Now she finally knows the truth—but she’s left with more questions than answers. She doesn’t have a clue what her heritage means or how to harness her newfound powers. All she knows is that she needs to sort out her feelings for Derek, the sexy half-Fae who just confessed his love, and Lucas, her werewolf boyfriend who seems more committed to his pack than to their relationship. All the while, Kylie’s dealing with a group of underground rogues who want her dead and a mysterious grandfather who makes it clear he doesn’t trust the FRU . . . or Shadow Falls. Soon Kylie will have to choose: Will she stay with the new family she’s formed at Shadow Falls, or will she leave with her grandfather and embrace her destiny?
Buckle up and hold onto your seats because the supernatural thrill ride continues in Whispers at Moonrise with twists and turns coming at vampire speed. This is a book you can’t put down, one you can’t wait to see where it is going but don’t want it to end.
Kylie finally finds out what she is, not that it helps because no one, not even Burnett and Holiday know what that is. As Kylie tries to come to grips with what she is and find out what it means, she has new powers that just appear causing quite a few funny moments. One of my favorite involves a flying paperweight and Burnett. Along with the laugh out loud moments, there are a lot of emotional moments, both sweet and painful. You will find people are not who you thought they were, love flourishing, love dying and teenage angst so realistic your heart breaks with the Shadows Falls crew. I am as torn between Derek and Lucas as Kylie is, I am going to be broken hearted whichever way she goes. That being said I lean more towards Derek. The ghost that has come to Kylie adds an extra dimension of emotion and suspense. Not to be left out, Miranda and Della are back and better than ever! The suspense is high, every time I thought I knew who the bad guy was, I was wrong.
The story is full of details, twists, turns and surprises, so I really can’t give much more about it without spoiling it and believe me you do not want it spoiled, you want to read this exhilarating story without prior knowledge of what is going to happen.
Whispers at Moonrise ends with a extremely emotional scene, cliff hanger and the unknown. I did not want it to end, it definitely left me groaning saying “NOOOOO, now we have to wait til Spring of 2013 for Chosen at Nightfall to see what happens next!”
In my opinion Ms. Hunter, with Whispers at Moonrise, is leading up to an explosive and amazing Shadow Falls finale in Chosen at Nightfall.
Honestly, my little heart is wishing that after Chosen at Nightfall, maybe we re visit Shadow Falls with stories about Della and Miranda.
If you enjoy Young Adult Paranormal and have not started this series, I strongly suggest starting it now.
