Alyn’s Review – My Sweet Succubus (My Immortal Knight, #8) by Delilah Devlin

Description:
Melanie Bradshaw is driven to horny desperation by her torrid dreams. When she finally acts on her desires, things go horribly wrong and she witnesses the murder of an overly amorous lounge lizard—whose body disintegrates before her eyes.

Detective Moses Brown isn’t thrilled to get another “full-moon case”…until he meets the delectable Melanie, who took a walk on the wild side straight into vampire territory. Moses doesn’t know why vamps are interested in her, but until he can find out, he’s going to stick to her like glue, doing his best to ignore their instant attraction.

But pretty little Melanie has designs on his body. Her hunger for sex is voracious, even downright insatiable. How’s a brother to resist?

Publisher’s Note: This story was previously self-published under the title She’s All That.

Alyn’s Thoughts:
Sometimes a girl is just in the mood for a quickie. That hot little fix to satisfy that urge to read something naughty, if only for an hour or two. My Sweet Succubus is just the cure for those of us erotica addicts looking for a sexy literary high.

Melanie Bradshaw is freaked out and scared. All she wanted was a one night hook up to relieve her loneliness. The erotic dreams that she keeps having have left her wanting. It seems that heading to the bar from her dreams would be the perfect way to find what she was looking for; mystery, sex, anonymity. What was not in the equation was witnessing a murder. Not only did Melanie watch a man disintegrate after being stabbed, but she could have sworn she saw fangs. Add to that the fact that the police thought she was crazy and she had pretty much had the worst night imaginable.

Detective Moses Brown has seen it all. After watching his partner Viper, turn into a vampire, he had become the man to call for the “full moon” cases. He was used to freak shows and weird cases and didn’t think twice when he was called in for another one. He expects the snickers and jokes that come with the territory. What he did not realize, is that there was more than meets the eye to the petite, little, woman in the interrogation room. Melanie Bradshaw looked scared. She was not crazy like his co-workers thought but she was spooked and with good reason. What the hell was she doing in a vampire bar? Viper had seen her there and confirmed that she was wanted by their enemy for some reason. Being the protector that he is, Moses offers to stay and protect Melanie at her home until he figures out if she is truly in danger. The question is, is he? After an unexpected encounter Moses realizes that while he wants Melanie, he may need her even more.

This little quickie took me by surprise. While I am a huge Delilah Devlin fan, I have not read any of the stories from this series until now. I can easily say that I will be investigating the rest of the series as a result. Delilah is able to give enough background about the characters to gain interest without dragging things out. When things start to heat up, she gives plenty of details to get those wicked wheels turning in your head while adding those personal quirks individual to each character. What I enjoyed most was how accepting Moses is of Melanie’s predicament and how willing he is to step out of his comfort zone and get uncomfortably kinky to ease her “need”. Overall this was a hot and satisfying quickie for any paranormal fan and worth adding to the tbr list.
