SPOTLIGHT ON – GOOD CHRISTIAN BITCHES – Contest

Everything’s bigger in Texas…
even the drama.

About the book
The GCBs of Hillside Park Presbyterian are praying for Amanda Vaughn–or so they claim. Will their evil gossip destroy her reputation, or will she show them exactly how to turn the other cheek?

Amanda Vaughn needs some heaven-sent help. She’s divorced her cheating husband and fled, along with her two teenagers, back to her hometown, Hillside Park, a Dallas suburb so upper-class that the question isn’t where to bank, but whose family owns the bank. Amanda is thrilled to be back in Texas—after twelve years in Southern California, she’s ready to leave behind her shallow, Godless life and return to the welcoming Christian world where she grow up. Or at least that’s the plan . . .

But when she arrives, she’s met with some Texas-sized trouble. Her old friends, neighbors, and fellow church members treat Amanda like a long-lost friend . . . until her back is turned. Then the claws come out. Amanda finds herself trapped in a world of salacious rumors, secret affairs, and Bible-study sessions gone terribly wrong. And what’s even more puzzling is that a secret admirer is sending Amanda lavish gifts. Why, she wonders, would anyone send a Mercedes when a simple dinner invitation would do?

Packed with schemes, drama, and a Southern setting more fun than a barbecue at Southfork, GOOD CHRISTIAN BITCHES has humor, sass, and an unforgettable cast of characters.

About the Show
Starring Leslie Bibb, Kristin Chenoweth, Annie Potts, Jennifer Aspen, Miriam Shor

Twenty years ago, Amanda Vaughn was the queen bee of Dallas, Texas. Now she’s back, and it’s payback for being an original mean girl. Will the good women of her hometown welcome her with open arms, or preach the golden rule while stabbing her in the back?

Everything’s bigger in Texas… even the drama.

I watched it Sunday night and laughed the whole time. I’ve been in non-denominational churches all the way to Southern Baptist churches and there’s always a group like this…

As for who I wouldn’t want to meet from high school… I don’t have anyone I wouldn’t want to meet. I didn’t have this kind of issue in high school. I wasn’t a mean girl, but we didn’t have the typical mean girls either. I went to a small arts high school and it was fairly new to the community at the time, so we were all trying to feel our way and it took all of us to make a success. There were people I didn’t like and people who didn’t like me, but… it was pretty much the church going crowd and the non-church going crowd and we all just kinda kept to our own.

Don’t enter me, I just wanted to comment. I don’t know if I’ll stick to the show, but for a while I’ll keep watching.

  3. Soft Fuzzy Sweater

I watched the pilot and just loved it. I hated going to my class reunion since all the snooty girls were all sitting at the same table just like 30 years ago. But that’s okay. I am successful in my heart!

watched the premier, loved it. for sure will watch again. don’t waste time thinking about anyone from high school, too cliquish.

  5. cherthib

I was so looking forward to watching it and somehow missed it anyway :(. But I do plan on watching it this Sunday :). And as to who from school I wouldn’t want to run into…..well that’s pretty easy…I wouldn’t want to run into anyone!!!!

  6. Leni

I didn’t watch the premiere and don’t get the channel. Might catch it online, though.
I don’t want to run into anyone from high school. Didn’t like it while I was there and have no desire to revisit.

went to a snooty high school with people I didn’t mind walking away from after graduation. I wasn’t from old money but had enough money not to fit in with the average kids. I was in limbo for all of high school. I went to my 10 year reunion and decided my 20 year was not worth my effort.

I can’t believe I missed the premiere of GCB! But I will be watching b/c I love David James Elliott!

Watched the premier and liked it. It was funny and at time oh so true. I dreaded going to class reunions and after the first two I stopped going, because the snotty bitches were still stuck together thicker than thieves.

I can’t believe I missed the premier! Will definitely be watching this Sunday.

There aren’t many people from high school that I’d want to run into. It wasn’t a happy time for me.

  12. Crystal

I watched the premier episode and loved it!!!

As for high school I didn’t really have any issues, but then again there is no one that I wanna see again or anyone that I would be scared to see. If I haven’t seen you since high school then you have no impact on my life now. It helps that I still live around were I graduated from.

  13. amandakgc

Missed the premiere but I will be watching this Sunday. The least person I would like to meet up from school…everyone? LOL! No seriously, don’t think I have anybody who I wouldn’t want to see but don’t know if they would wanna see me.

  14. Lauren Mackesy

OMG, I kept seeing the commercials and had no idea what GCB stood for. lol I did not see the premiere but I am going to try and find it. I’m going to DVR it right now. Hmm, who from high school would I not want to bump into ever again? Probably Al Williamson. He was a star football player hooked on steroids. He was always so mean to me and I had to sit across from him in class.

  15. DiDi

    Thanks everyone for stopping by.

For those of you who missed the first episode, the link for the first episode is right about the words CONTEST TIME.

I missed the premier but I’m definitely watching it Sunday night, sounds good! cheryllynne(at)rocketmail(dot)com

I only caught a few minutes. I was surprised Leslie Bibb was playing the mom of a teen, they usually skew her younger. My dad, of all people, really liked it, so I’m definitely going to catch it this Sun.

  18. Goldielocks

I’ve seen the trailers and I sooo want to watch the show, but I don’t think I’ll be able to unless Danish television buys the first season :o(

  19. Maria D.

I didn’t watch the premier but I do plan to find it online and watch is ASAP…I heard it’s pretty good. I can’t really think of anyone from high school I’d like to run into again…lol

Loved the premiere and plan to watch it on Sunday.

It wouldn’t bother me at all to run into any of my high school classmates.

  24. menina.iscrazy

I remember when this book first came out. We had bookmarks in our store (I worked at a bookstore at the time) and some people loved and then others threw a fit ’cause of the title. LOL I live in Texas and Texas is still apart of the bible belt so, you can imagine. ;D

I’ve seen and plan to see the next episode. After that? Not sure. Depends how good they are.
I enjoyed my ten year reunion. My 20th is in a couple of years or so and I’m hoping more people will come. Less than a 25% showed up last time. Loved how some people that were sure they would be ‘big’ weren’t. LOL

  25. Jacki C.

    1. I did plan to watch it, 2. I did watch it, and 3. as for high school – I would hate to run into the cheerleaders from my class.

  26. Under the Covers

I didn’t watch the show (mainly because I have scattered brain syndrome) but I do think it looks really good, so I’ll try to catch it next time.

    Great post ladies!

  27. Leanna

I watched it Sunday night and will be watching it again, it was so good. I loved it!

  28. Timitra

Oh yes I most definitely will be watching GCB on Sunday!!! I’m really looking forward to watching it, can’t believe I missed the premeire. I don’t want to run into anybody from high school.

  29. Shelly

Missed the premier but plan to watch on Sunday. I wouldn’t have at issues running into former classmates.

I did not see the premiere of the show on Sunday. I think I have seen the commercials for the show but didn’t realize what it was. The show sounds very funny and I will definitely try to see it this Sunday. I see most of the people that I went to high school with from time to time because I have lived in the same small Texas town my whole life and many of the people that I went to school with still live here as well.

Yes I watched the premiere. It was HILARIOUS! I am definitely going to be watching the series. There isn’t anyone from school that I worry about. I was in the middle, not popular enough to be a “mean Girl” and not unpopular enough to gain their notice or attention. *g* I just cruised on through.

  34. Jen B.

I missed the premiere :( I am going to set my DVR for next week. As far as the high school mean girl, I ran into her a few years ago. I almost fell out laughing because she was trying to be so nice because she wanted something from me. **Pfftt**

My hubby and I watched the premier and we howled with laughter. It is going to be appt TV for us on Sundays.

Like many above have mentioned, I didn’t like my high school years. Oh, there are some people I chat with on Facebook but I think the fact that we don’t ‘see’ each other has something to do with it.

I plan on going to my 25th reunion in a year or so because I am hoping to see some of my true friends.

  36. Persephone

I love the premiere of the show. It was hilarious.

I would not want to meet the queen bee of the group I used to hang out with. She was a bitch and I’m glad that she turned her back on me because it gave me a chance to find real friends.

  37. VBrown

I watched the pilot and I loved it. I can’t wait until Sunday. I don’t really fear running into anyone from high school. Most of the CHILDREN who thought they were the greatest and should be worshiped in high school, have made bad choices and are not happy.

  38. barbara

I missed it but will have to check it out.

I watched the pilot online after it aired because all of my favorite shows come on on sunday. After seeing guilty pleasures and so many others post about it I decided to watch it. I am really glad that I did! I haven’t laughed so much and so loud in one show in a such long time! Anyone who has been to dallas knows how spot on it is. It was very refreshing to see Annie Potts in something amazing again. I loved her in designing women back in the day, and lemme tell ya…. Her character takes the cake. Theres just something about a rich southern alcoholic grandma with lots of anecdotes that cracks me up. The character of Amanda played by Leslie Bibb is very interesting. A spoiled former mean girl who through tragedy involving her husband and her best friend in a fellatio related auto accident changes her ways. Something tells me her mean girl roots will return dealing with these “christian bitches” Definitely a must see! For me personally, it’s my new favorite already. So much juice in one episode!!! Can’t wait to tune in tomorrow to see what happens!
