Summary:
Back-to-back medical degrees took Emily Knox right where she planned to be: treating patients in the alternative cancer clinic. But nothing prepared her for a cocky, cheeky Aussie who strode into her life and dared her to cure him. She told herself it was the challenge she couldn’t resist - not his daredevil charm.
Eight months later, Rob’s out of danger…and Emily’s in trouble. She’s in deep, too deep. Worse, Rob has left the clinic against doctor’s order. There’s nothing for it but to follow him across eleven thousand miles of land and see to give him what for - as his doctor, of course.
Rob never expected to survive the brain tumor. Nor did he expect to fall head over heels for his very proper, very English oncologist. The problem? Her Hippocratic Oath hangs between them, keeping her just out of reach. Now, with “cured” on his medical chart and his duty as best man for his best mate calling, he takes off for home to start getting his old life back.
Trouble is, while the good doctor cured his cancer, she seems to have inflicted him with something else - desire he just can’t shake.
Piper’s Thoughts:
I can not get enough of Rob Thorton! We were introduced to carefree, daredevil Rob in Triple Dare and I fell in love with him. Dare Me is Rob’s story and what a great story it is.
As we learned in Triple Dare, Rob was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and was told there was no hope for a cure. So in true Rob fashion, he dares Dr. Emily Knox to cure him.
At the start of the story Rob has completed eight month of treatment and is now “cured”. He is home just in time to serve as best man for Joe and Anna’s wedding. I loved that Rob was trying to be the same person on the outside, but on the inside he was really struggling with who he was now.
Emily has traveled from Barcelona to let Rob have it for leaving the treatment center without her approval. Emily has struggled with her feeling for Rob since he started his treatment with her eight months ago. She has held herself back, but not anymore. Once these two together, is it HOT, HOT!!! Like I have said before, Lexxie Couper can write a freaking smokin’ hot sex scene.
Rob and Emily have to over come emotional issues that come with surviving something like cancer, which is even harder for them since Emily is the doctor who cured him. He wants to forget he had cancer and go back to the way his life was before cancer, but with Emily being a doctor, she can not do that. I love that Rob has to struggles to come to terms with his feelings for Emily and for being a cancer survivor. Rob finally understands that Emily will always be doctor and will always be looking for signs that the cancer is back, but that will not stop them from living their happy ever after. These two are perfect for each other and balance each other out. I really enjoyed their love story and it is written so wonderfully, that I felt like they were my friends and I was pulling for them the whole time.
Lexxie tackles some hard issues in Rob’s story, which she does beautifully. I lived this emotional story along with characters, and love books that can accomplish that. I loved that we got to see Rob scared and vulnerable, not just the fun and crazy guy all the time. Of course Joe is there (even on his honeymoon) to support Rob and help him find his way. I love the relationship between these two guys. Dare Me made me laugh and cry and is a wonderful story of the forever kind of love being found under terrible circumstances.
Happy Reading!!
