Ever had one of those days when everything goes wrong….Janey’s life has been FULL of those days. Janey is raising her niece Rachel, Rachel’s best friend Cynthia, is Toph’s daughter. Toph is a successful business man with the midas touch. He has the ability to see a person’s potential and the money to help them make their dreams come true. When he first meets Janey he realizes he can help her succeed with starting her own catering business. The day Janey and Toph are supposed to meet, they end up kidnapped….which changes their lives in more ways then one.
Janey and Toph are both quirky. Since the age of fifteen Janey has been on her own and unable to count on anyone to help her. Toph is the rich kid with a heart, he collects friends adding them to his “family” even his ex-wife and the man she cheated on Toph with. Janey is totally opposite of every woman Toph has ever wanted but she rocked his world from the first kiss. She makes him lose control and become a wild man in the sheets.
Unnatural Calamities is a cute book with a lot going on. My only complaint is that I liked Toph and Janey individually, but I didn’t get to see enough of their relationship growing. because there is so much going on in the book, but then again, stressful situations do heighten emotions, which makes them falling in love so quickly believable in their world of mayhem. The bathtub scene was interestingly hot. You can feel the chemistry between Toph and Janey but most scenes after that are “behind closed doors.” The secondary characters are funny, delightful and interesting. I would like to see more of them.
Unnatural Calamities is a great light read, perfect for an afternoon escape when you want to laugh.
