Review – Rocky Mountain Heat (#1 – Six Pack Ranch) by Vivian Arend

IF YOU’VE READ THIS BEFORE, THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL VERSION, this is an expanded version now published by Samhain, and it has even more of the sexy Coleman siblings in it. I read the first version a year ago and LOVED it, I LOVE this one even more.

Book Summary:
He’s the one who taught her to ride. Now all he wants is to ride her.

Blake Coleman is old enough to know that acting on impulse causes nothing but a heap of trouble. But when trouble’s a western-hat-wearing blonde with slim legs that go on forever, what’s a man to do? Wanting the sweet girl next door is just wrong. The responsible thing to do is keep his hands off.

Jaxi has other plans for Blake’s hands, and his heart. She may have once considered him a big brother, but that was a long time ago. She’s all grown up now and ready to convince him that she’s perfect for him. Except he can’t seem to see past the big “don’t touch” sign that’s apparently still hanging around her neck.

When Jaxi ends up living right under Blake’s nose, the undeniable heat between them slides off simmer and leaps up to barn-burning levels. However, a few of the younger six-pack Colemans have decided Jaxi’s brand of trouble is worth risking a few busted bones.

That is, if Blake’s finally ready to let go the reins and fight for what he wants…

This book has been previously published and has been revised and expanded from its original release.

D’s Review:

I FELL in LOVE with the Six Pack Ranch series, August 17, 2010 (I looked the date up on my kindle).  I saw there was a second novella, Rocky Mountain Haven and bought it right away.  A couple of weeks later a friend told me she went to get the 1st book and it was no longer available.  I emailed Vivian Arend to ask about the first book and when the rest of the brother’s stories were coming out, she told me that the series was going to be picked up by another publisher and re-released, but the books would be longer.   I WAS SO FREAKING excited!! I’ve been waiting for what seems forever to get my hands on this new version of RMH and it did not disappoint.  If you love books about smokin’ hot cowboys and their families you must try Six Pack Ranch (and if you know me, you know that I LOVE sexy Cowboy stories!!!)

Jaxi has been an “honorary” member of the Coleman family for almost as long as she can remember, she’s been in love with Blake Coleman, the oldest Coleman, about half that time.  Being nine years older than Jaxi, Blake always thought of her as his younger brothers’ best friend, almost like just one of the boys. Then she turned 16 and got hips and breasts, so he distanced himself from her and the desire he had for her.

Years later Jaxi decides it’s time to go for it, either Blake is going to realize she is a woman or she is going to have to move on. Fate intervenes and puts Jaxi in close quarters with Blake AND all FIVE of his brothers.  Blake is determined to ignore the attraction, but then jealousy starts rearing it’s ugly head when he sees the brothers flirting with Jaxi. This forces Blake to try to  figure out what to do, go for what he wants or do what he thinks is right.  Then Jaxi turns up the heat and Blake can’t resist. Their relationship develops at a great pace, nowhere did I feel the story was rushed.  I loved the new scenes VA added, they definitely let readers get to know some of the secondary characters better and make us wonder what is going to happen down the line.

Rocky Mountain Heat is incredibly HOT, FUNNY and SWEET!!!  There is a smokin’ hot game of pool, sweet wooing, hot menage, barely legal consumption of peaches, sibling rivalry, meddling siblings, emotional strife, unbreakable family bonds, all the while centered around SIX sexy as hell Cowboys!!!

Besides the new scenes in the story, a bonus chapter at the end that is way too adorable.   This book is on my keeper and re-read shelves.

I was sad to reach the end, I could keep reading about the Coleman’s for days, now to wait for Rocky Mountain Haven and Rocky Mountain Desire’s releases…sigh….

  2. I’m one of the one’s who read the original. I had decided to not read this one when I heard it was the same book, but after reading what you wrote I think it may be worth my while. Hopefully I can get to it soon.

  3. I have the original story just haven’t read it yet. After reading your review I think I need to go add it to my wishlist at Amazon.
